In King's Quest I, the young knight Sir Graham is sent on a quest to find three treasures to save King Edward and his kingdom.

King's Quest VIII is similar to King's Quest I, in that it involves a young knight attempting to save the king Graham ( who stands in place of Edward ), his queen Valanice, and the kingdom of Daventry from harm.

King's Quest VII is the only game in the series that does not involve King Graham ( he is missing entirely from the story ), Castle Daventry, or saving the kingdom of Daventry ( only a small portion of the land is shown briefly in the introduction ), nor the magic mirror.

According to the King's Quest Companion he apparently has a wife, and it confirms that Graham had encountered the same Dwarf again when he traveled to Kolyma.

King's Quest Companion speculates that he may have clawed his way out of the sack Graham put him in, and may have even affected a cure for his feline condition.

In 2001, the group AGD Interactive ( then known as Tierra Entertainment ) released an unofficial remake based on Sierra's 1990 version, updating the graphics to use VGA colors, dropping the parser in favor of an interface that mimics that of King's Quest V, and full speech-including the voice of the original voice actor for King Graham in Sierra's official CD-ROM full-speech versions of King's Quest V and VI, Josh Mandel.

It uses the same AGI game engine as King's Quest I: Quest for the Crown and features King Graham as the player character.

The King's Quest Companion explains that before King Graham and Valanice returned to Daventry, they traveled through the magic door to the enchanted isle and freed the great golden lion from its chains.

This sequel to the original King's Quest provided not just a second look at the life of King ( formerly Sir ) Graham of Daventry, it also began a tradition of using King's Quest as a training ground for future designers.

Notably for an unofficial, fan-made project, the game's protagonist King Graham is voiced by Josh Mandel, who also voiced the part in Sierra's official CD-ROM full-speech versions of King's Quest V and VI.

In King's Quest III, the story moves away from Daventry and King Graham to the land of Llewdor, where a boy named Gwydion is being kept by the wicked wizard, Manannan.
