Head Hunters is a key release in Hancock's career and a defining moment in the genre of jazz funk.

In a career spanning 50 years he was also responsible for such series as The Goon Show, Hancock's Half Hour, Citizen Smith, and The Marty Feldman Show.

He also contributed to the ITV police procedural series No Hiding Place and Ghost Squad as well as to the top-rated comedy series Bootsie and Snudge and to ATV's attempt to revive Tony Hancock's career in Hancock ( 1963 ).

Hancock's boat was seized after he had unloaded a cargo of 25 pipes ( 3, 150 gallons ) of Madeira, and a dispute arose over import duties.

By this time, Hancock's difficulties with women had become part of the characterisation.

In the 1950s, he had a regular role as an Australian lodger in the BBC radio comedy series Hancock's Half Hour.

However, as avant-garde jazz was a prime influence on no wave, New York City became the center of a new crop of aggressive improvisors: John Zorn, Borbetomagus, the Lounge Lizards, James Chance, James Blood Ulmer, Sonny Sharrock, Marc Ribot, Diamanda Galás, Bill Laswell ( who also worked on Herbie Hancock's funk and electro recordings ) and Bill Frisell ( who had also recorded with the ECM musicians ) among them.

Though he had made a short appearance with Tony Hancock in Hancock's Half Hour in 1961, Yarwood owed his initial success to the Sunday Night at the London Palladium variety ' spectacular ', on which he first appeared in 1964.

The film, under Hancock's direction and Tristan's writing, had originally a different tone and premise than what would eventually be seen in the final film.

In 1855, in the last of three patent disputes with fellow British rubber pioneer, Stephen Moulton, Hancock's patent was challenged with the claim that Hancock had copied Goodyear.

In December 2010, it was announced by the Hampshire Police that Hancock would not face charges over claims of indecent assault which had led to Hancock's arrest on 12 October 2010 and release on bail until January 2011.

Until Hancock was ousted as chairman of the All-Party Group on Russia in June 2010, Zatuliveter had been the group's secretary, giving her direct access to all MPs with the greatest interest in Russia and legitimate reason to liaise with the Russian authorities ; according to sources at Westminster, Zatuliveter had access to Hancock's private emails, and virtually ran the UK-Russia group.

The media quoted some of Hancock's former Council of Europe's liberal group colleagues as saying that in the 2000s Hancock would usually come to their regular private gatherings alongside a series of young Russian and Ukrainian women-in spite of protests by some of those ; Hancock's former colleagues said they had witnessed his alleged assistants using the computers of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe, the liberal group secretariat, which were supposed to be protected by a password ; apparently his ' assistants ' knew the password.

Since the early 1950s with I Love Lucy in the U. S. and Hancock's Half Hour in the UK, sitcoms have always had a special place in the hearts of viewers and gathered highly devoted followers, as the familiar characters often become beloved.

Much of Hancock's writing had a patriotic character, his books and stories having a considerable proportion of military heroes placed in settings ranging from the American Revolutionary War, through the Spanish-American War and the First World War, and up to an imaginary German invaion of the USA ( see following section ).

Rinehart would later claim that Hancock's bride had paid little attention to his worsening health, but had instead " screeched at him for money ".

However, Hancock's daughter insisted that her stepmother had unnaturally hastened his death.

Although probably best known as a comic actor, and especially for his appearances in Hancock's Half Hour, he has since played a number of serious roles, notably in Peter Weir's films Picnic At Hanging Rock ( 1975 ), Gallipoli ( 1981 ) and The Year of Living Dangerously ( 1982 ).

The suggestion reappears regularly since, e. g. in an 1883 edition of Notes and Queries and in various publications in the twentieth century, one of the most recent being Graham Hancock's book Underworld: The Mysterious Origins of Civilization.

Dis Is Da Drum is Herbie Hancock's thirty-ninth album and his first solo album since leaving Columbia Records.

The film The Rebel ( US: Call Me Genius ), 1961 ) featuring British comedian Tony Hancock's tells of a London office clerk who moves to Paris to pursue his vocation as an artist of the Beat Generation ; the film satirizes pseudointellectuals.

He also appeared in Tony Hancock's two principal film vehicles The Rebel ( 1961 ) and The Punch and Judy Man ( 1963 ), and many episodes of Hancock's television series Hancock's Half Hour.

Later in 1961 he also appeared in the first of Tony Hancock's two principal film vehicles, The Rebel, in which he played Hancock's office manager, and in the Terry Bishop-directed Hair of the Dog, where he portrayed Sir Mortimer Gallant.

One of Faulds ' best remembered roles is that of Phalerus in Jason and the Argonauts ( 1963 ), taking part in the famous skeleton fight scene with model work by Ray Harryhausen, and another was in one of Tony Hancock's best remembered television programmes, unseen but as the voice of ' mayday ' in " The Radio Ham " ( 1961 ).

Cargill performed on several occasions with Tony Hancock, twice in Hancock's final BBC television series, including a role as the doctor who clashes with him in the " The Blood Donor " ( 1961 ).

Meanwhile, in 1954, he began working with Tony Hancock in BBC radio's Hancock's Half Hour, playing a character with his own name ( but having the invented middle name Balmoral ), who was a petty criminal who would usually manage to con Hancock.

Humiliation of authority was something only previously delved into in The Goon Show and, arguably, Hancock's Half Hour, with such parliamentarians as Sir Winston Churchill and Harold Macmillan coming under special scrutiny — although the BBC were predisposed to frowning upon it.

He played a prominent role in many landmark albums under other leaders for the label including most of Horace Silver's swinging and soulful Song For My Father, Herbie Hancock's dark and densely orchestrated The Prisoner, Lee Morgan's hit album The Sidewinder and ' out ' albums with pianist Andrew Hill ( Black Fire 1963 and Point of Departure, 1964 ) and drummer Pete La Roca ( Basra, 1965 ).
