Sag Harbor Union Free School District includes both the Sag Harbor Elementary School and Pierson Middle-High School.

The total population of the Brookings area is over 13, 000, which includes Harbor ( a census-designated place ), and others.

South Kingstown includes the villages of Kingston, West Kingston, Wakefield, Peace Dale, Snug Harbor, Tuckertown, East Matunuck, Matunuck, Green Hill, and Perryville.

Weymouth's territory includes Grape Island, Slate Island, and Sheep Island, all part of the Boston Harbor Islands National Recreation Area.

The legislature separated the Turnpike into a western portion, from the New York border to Route 128, and the eastern Metropolitan Highway System, which includes a stretch of the Turnpike from Route 128 to East Boston, the Ted Williams, Sumner and Callahan tunnels under Boston Harbor, and I-93 from Southampton Street through the Thomas P. " Tip " O ' Neill tunnel and the Leonard P. Zakim Bridge to the foot of the Tobin Bridge.

There are also several conservation areas throughout town ; the portion of the Boston Harbor Islands National Recreation Area in Hingham includes Bumpkin Island, Button Island, Langlee Island, Ragged Island, Sarah Island and the World's End Reservation, which juts out into the bay.

From the bridge northward, the island includes the communities of Surf City, North Beach ( a section of Long Beach Township ), Harvey Cedars, Loveladies ( the northernmost section of Long Beach Township ), High Bar Harbor, and Barnegat Light.

It was described by the Urban Land Institute in 2009 as “ the model for post-industrial waterfront redevelopment around the world .” The Inner Harbor consists of the end of the Northwest Branch of the Patapsco River and includes any water west of a line drawn between the foot of President Street and the American Visionary Art Museum.

The watershed includes 3, 742 river miles ( 6, 022 km ) and flows through and near the Kalamazoo-Portage, Elkhart-Goshen, South Bend-Mishawaka, and St. Joseph / Benton Harbor metropolitan areas.

During the War of 1812, three companies of Franklin men served at Sackett's Harbor and New York City.
