Thomas Andrews Hendricks ( September 7, 1819November 25, 1885 ) was an American politician who served as a Representative and a Senator from Indiana, the 16th Governor of Indiana ( 1873 – 1877 ), and the 21st Vice President of the United States ( 1885 ).

William Hendricks was a successful politician who was Governor of Indiana from 1822 to 1825 and a Senator from Indiana from 1825 to 1837.

Marlboro College was founded in 1946 by Walter Hendricks for returning World War II veterans on Potash Hill in Marlboro, Vermont.

One of the most comprehensive of these was carried out by Dr. Vinod Singhal of the Georgia Institute of Technology and Dr. Kevin Hendricks of the College of William and Mary.

They became close friends of Walter Hendricks, who founded Marlboro College on the site of a former dairy farm.

The award is named after Ted Hendricks, who is a member of both the College Football Hall of Fame as well as the Pro Football Hall of Fame and is presented by his own 501 ( c )( 3 ) foundation, called the Ted Hendricks Foundation.
