As he wrote in his " Critique of the Gotha Program ", " between capitalist and communist society there lies the period of the revolutionary transformation of the one into the other.

Contrary to popular belief, Marx does not base his LTV on what he dismisses as " ascribing a supernatural creative power to labor ", arguing in the Critique of the Gotha Program that:

Marx expanded upon his ideas about the dictatorship of the proletariat in his short 1875 work, Critique of the Gotha Program, a scathing criticism and attack on the principles laid out in the programme of the German Workers ' Party ( predecessor to the SPD ), a socialist organisation whose policies he thought to be ineffectual.

Although Lassalle was a member of the Communist League, his politics were strongly opposed by Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels ; indeed Marx's essay Critique of the Gotha Program is written in part as a reaction to Lassalle's conception of the socialist state.

Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels attribute the doctrine to Lassalle ( notably in Critique of the Gotha Programme ( 1875 ), Marx ), crediting the idea to Thomas Malthus in his work, An Essay on the Principle of Population, and the terminology to Goethe's " great, eternal iron laws " in Das Göttliche.

Karl Marx's famous Critique of the Gotha Program criticized what he saw as a Lassallean victory over the Eisenachers whom he favored ; interestingly, Bernstein later noted that it was Liebknecht, considered by many to be the strongest Marxist advocate within the Eisenacher faction, who proposed the inclusion of many of the ideas which so thoroughly irritated Marx.

In 1875, Karl Marx wrote of " Labor Certificates " ( Arbeitszertifikaten ) in his Critique of the Gotha Program of a " certificate from society that labourer has furnished such and such an amount of labour ", which can be used to draw " from the social stock of means of consumption as much as costs the same amount of labour.

Marx's philosophy is thus inextricably linked to his critique of political economy and to his historical interventions in the workers ' movement, such as the 1875 Critique of the Gotha Program or The Communist Manifesto, written with Engels ( who was observing the Chartist movement ) a year before the Revolutions of 1848.

Communism is a hypothetical stage of Socialist development articulated by Marx as " second stage Socialism " in Critique of the Gotha Program, whereby economic output is distributed based on need and not simply on the basis of labor contribution.

A compromise known as the Gotha Program was forged, although it had been strongly criticized by Karl Marx for its reformist bias in his Critique of the Gotha Program.

The Critique of the Gotha Program () is a document based on a letter by Karl Marx written in early May 1875 to the Eisenach faction of the German social democratic movement, with whom Marx and Friedrich Engels were in close association.

Marx sometimes used the term " productive forces " equivalently with " factors of production ;" in Capital, he uses " factors of production ," in his famous Preface to the Critique of Political Economy, he uses " productive forces " ( note that this is in the English versions and may depend on the translation.

In the Critique, he noted however that " defects are inevitable " and there would be many difficulties in initially running such a workers ' state " as it emerges from capitalistic society " because it would be " economically, morally and intellectually ... still stamped with the birth marks of the old society from whose womb it emerges ", thereby still containing capitalist elements.

In other words, by Kant's Critique, our minds may attempt to correlate in useful ways, perhaps even closely accurate ways, with the structure and order of the various aspects of the universe, but cannot know these " things-in-themselves " ( noumena ) directly.

Similar to Lenin's use of it, left communists, coming from the Communist International themselves started in fact with a theory of decadence in the first place, yet the communist left sees the theory of decadence at the heart of Marx's method as well, expressed in famous works such as The Communist Manifesto, Grundrisse, Das Kapital but most significantly in Preface to the Critique of Political Economy.

Critique of Dialectical Reason and Search for a Method were written as a common manuscript, with Sartre intending the former to logically precede the latter.

Critique of Dialectical Reason was written in the wake of the rejection of Communism by leftist French intellectuals who also wanted to revive Marxism, a process that destroyed Sartre's friendship with Maurice Merleau-Ponty.
