The Hollings Faculty offers the largest concentration of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in food, clothing, and hospitality studies and related fields in the UK with over 3500 full-time, part-time and sandwich programme students.

Later, Schools of Commerce ( founded 1889 ), Education ( f. 1878 ) and Domestic Science ( f. 1880 ) were added along with colleges at Didsbury, Crewe, Alsager and the former Domestic and Trades College ( f. 1911 ), latterly Hollings College.

In 1966, former governor Ernest " Fritz " Hollings won South Carolina's other Senate seat in a special election.

Hollings was born in Charleston, South Carolina to Adolph G. and Wilhelmine Hollings and was raised at 338 President St. in the Hampton Park Terrace neighborhood from the age of ten through enrolling in college.

He had four children ( Michael, Helen, Patricia Salley, and Ernest the 3rd ) with his first wife, ( Martha ) Patricia Salley Hollings.

Hollings served as an officer in the U. S. Army's 323rd and 457th Artillery units from 1942 to 1945, during World War II, and was awarded the Bronze Star for meritorious service in direct support of combat operations from December 13, 1944 to May 1, 1945 in France and Germany.

The Faculty Board is the faculty's representative body and consists of 18 elected faculty representatives as well as other senior administration officials.

The Faculty of Engineering operates the Ocean Research Centre Atlantic, which is dedicated to carrying out research and tests in the areas of naval and off-shore engineering.

The interest in student elections is the most in the Arts Faculty where the student political movement is a lot more ideologically motivated than the engineering or science faculties.

It is organized by the students of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology in the month of March with the aim of promoting the spirit of innovation and discovery among the participants and features competitions in coding, robotics, hardware designing, and even mathematical puzzles.

Classical music is also well known in Kosovo and has been taught at several music schools and universities ( at the University of Prishtina Faculty of Arts in Pristina and the University of Priština Faculty of Arts at Kosovska Mitrovica ).

The University of Manitoba is the network leader of ISIS Canada ( Intelligent Sensing for Innovative Structures ), headquartered in the Faculty of Engineering.
