The school offers special curricula which include Honors courses, Advanced Placement, and International Baccalaureate courses.

In the past several years, Del Mar has increased its selection of available honors courses to include Physics Honors, Biology Honors, World History Honors, and honors classes for English 1 through 3.

In 1919, Professor Erskine taught the first course based on the " great books " program, titled " General Honors ," at Columbia University.

After teaching at Columbia University for one year, St. Florian joined the Rhode Island School of Design faculty in 1963, where he helped launch the school ’ s renowned European Honors Program in Rome, which he directed from 1965-67.

In 2008 Prince was the keynote speaker at Elon University's Convocation for Honors celebration.

Following the Transition School, the students become full-time freshmen at the University, and many also enter the University's Honors Program.

The Kluge Prize would honor lifetime intellectual achievement in the same way as the Kennedy Center Honors recognize lifetime achievement in the performing arts.
