The International Telecommunication Union ( ITU ) allocates call sign prefixes for radio and television stations of all types.

Unallocated: The following call sign prefixes are available for future allocation by the ITU.

Unavailable: Under present ITU guidelines the following call sign prefixes shall not be allocated.

* two digit prefixes ( nn ) are not as yet considered by the ITU.

* The DNIC prefixes of X. 25 NUAs assigned by the ITU http :// www. itu. int

The Rugby transmitter's callsign was MSF, where ' M ' is one of the ITU prefixes allocated to the United Kingdom, and the letters ' SF ' were allocated for no documented reason.

These are within their host countries but have distinct ITU prefixes.

The letters " RB " in the station's callsign stand for " Rogers ' Batteryless " ( the letters " CF " form one of Canada's ITU prefixes ).

* The UK 405 line system was the first to have an allocated ITU System Letter Designation.

The monochrome combinations still existing in the 1950s are standardized by the International Telecommunication Union ( ITU ) as capital letters A through N. When color television was introduced, the hue and saturation information was added to the monochrome signals in a way that black & white televisions ignore.

While not all standards bodies provide specifications freely available for download, many do, including: ITU, JEDEC, DVI, and HDMI ( through HDMI 1. 3a ).

It is not available for use in ITU Region 1 ( except in Somalia ) or ITU Region 3.

For many years the portion of the band from 7100 – 7300 kHz has been allocated to short wave broadcasters outside the Americas and not available to radio amateurs outside ITU Region 2.

Licensees also receive the right to use Polycom's 16 kbit / s decoder extension of G. 722. 1, as well as G. 722. 1 Annex C, and Polycom's IP within the new 20 kHz ITU fullband codec, G. 719.

The ITU prefix VO was originally assigned to Newfoundland and remains in use by Newfoundland and Labrador radioamateurs.
