In 1397 the town, known in German as Mömpelgard, passed by marriage of Henriette, heiress of county to Eberhard IV, Count of Württemberg, to the House of Württemberg.

Her father Peter of Luxembourg, Count of Saint-Pol was also the hereditary Count of Brienne from 1397 to his death in 1433.

They had co-reigned as Count and Countess of Brienne from 1394 to her death in 1397.

He was also Count of Valois, Duke of Touraine ( 1386 – 1392 ), Count of Blois ( 1397 – 1407 ), Angoulême ( 1404 – 1407 ), Périgord, Dreux, and Soissons.

In 1387, Count Engelbert III granted the town some privileges, it received full city rights in 1397 from Count Dietrich von der Mark.

Philip of Artois ( 1358 – June 16, 1397, Micalizo ), son of John of Artois, Count of Eu and Isabeau of Melun, was Count of Eu from 1387 until his death, succeeding his brother Robert.

Charles of Artois ( 1394 – July 25, 1472 ), son of Philip of Artois, Count of Eu and Marie of Berry, was Count of Eu from 1397 until his death.

In 1342, John IV, Duke of Brittany, surrendered Brest to the English, in whose possession it was to remain until 1397.

By his first wife Theodora of Wallachia ( nun Teofana ), a daughter of Basarab of Wallachia, Ivan Alexander had several children, including Ivan Sracimir, who ruled as emperor of Bulgaria in Vidin 1356 – 1397, associated emperors Michael Asen IV ( co-ruled c. 1332 – 1354 / 5 ) and Ivan Asen IV ( co-ruled 1337 – 1349 ), and a daughter called Thamar ( Kera Tamara ), who was married first to the despotēs Constantine ( Konstantin ), and then to Sultan Murad I of the Ottoman Empire.
