During the pontificate of Pope Paul III the Council fathers met for the first through eighth sessions in Trent ( 1545 – 7 ), and for the ninth through eleventh sessions in Bologna ( 1547 ).

The Medici produced four Popes of the Catholic Church — Pope Leo X ( 1513 – 1521 ), Pope Clement VII ( 1523 – 1534 ), Pope Pius IV ( 1559 – 1565 ), and Pope Leo XI ( 1605 ); two regent queens of France — Catherine de ' Medici ( 1547 – 1559 ) and Marie de ' Medici ( 1600 – 1610 ); and, in 1531, the family became hereditary Dukes of Florence.

On 24 April 1547, the imperial forces gathered by Charles and Pope Paul III routed the League's forces at the Battle of Mühlberg, capturing many leaders, including, most notably, Johann Frederick the Magnanimous and Philip of Hesse, and forcing residents of thirty different cities to reconvert.

In March he was appointed ambassador to the Pope, but the embassy never started ; and on 7 May, with William Knight ( 1476 – 1547 ), he was nominated envoy to renew the league of 1505 with Prince Charles.

Alessandro Farnese ( 5 October 1520 – 2 March 1589 ), an Italian cardinal and diplomat and a great collector and patron of the arts, was the grandson of Pope Paul III ( who also bore the name Alessandro Farnese ), and the son of Pier Luigi Farnese, Duke of Parma, who was murdered in 1547.

In 1547 it was again occupied, by the Duke of Alba in a war against Paul IV, and in 1744 by the Austrians.

The Red Velvet Room once contained the largest and most expensive paintings in Lord Burlington's collection, including paintings by Sir Anthony van Dyck ( 1599 – 1641 ), Giacomo Cavedone ( 1577 – 1660 ), Peter Paul Rubens ( 1573 – 1640 ), Rembrandt van Ryn ( 1606 – 69 ), Salvator Rosa ( 1615 – 1673 ), Pier Francesco Mola ( 1612 – 1666 ), Jacopo Ligozzi ( c. 1547 – 1632 ), Jean Lemaire ( 1598 – 1659 ), Francisque Millet ( 1642 – 79 ) and Leonardo da Vinci ( 1452 – 1519 ).

In 1547 Steuco was sent by Paul III to attend the Council of Trent, where he could be counted upon to uphold papal prerogatives and authority.

In 1537 pope Paul III condemned " unjust " enslavement of non-Christians in Sublimus Dei but he sanctioned slavery in Rome in 1545, the enslavement of Henry VIII in 1547 and the purchase of Muslim slaves in 1548.

The most comprehensive history is still Hubert Jedin's The History of the Council of Trent ( Geschichte des Konzils von Trient ) with about 2500 pages in four volumes: The History of the Council of Trent, The fight for a Council ( Vol I, 1951 ); The History of the Council of Trent The first Sessions in Trent ( 1545 – 1547 ) ( Vol II, 1957 ); The History of the Council of Trent Sessions in Bologna 1547 – 1548 and Trent 1551 – 1552 ( Vol III, 1970, 1998 ); The History of the Council of Trent Third Period and Conclusion ( Vol IV, 1976 ).

The " Tenerife ", or " Bichon ", had success in France during the Renaissance under Francis I ( 1515 – 1547 ), but its popularity skyrocketed in the court of Henry III ( 1574 – 1589 ).

His only legitimate ( twin ) sister, Philippa, Duchess of Lorraine ( 1467 – 1547 ), survived him and died during the reign of her great-grandson, Charles III, Duke of Lorraine ( 1543 – 1608 ).

As compensation, Leopold gave him the estate of Güsten, with its old Schloss built in 1547 by Prince George III, and the town of Warmsdorf with all its revenues, in addition to other concessions.

Alexandrines also formed the first line of the couplet form Poulter's Measure ( the second line being a fourteener ) as exemplified in Henry Howard, Earl of Surrey's poem, Complaint of the Absence of her lover, being upon the sea ( 1547 ).

She also used the priory during her short reign, particularly in 1547, where she felt safe from the English Army.

Another possible association is with the " three-grayned staff " listed as being in the armoury of Henry VIII in 1547 ( though the same list also features 84 rawcons, suggesting the weapons were not identical in 16th century English eyes ).

* A historical interest is also attached to the Gasthof zum Goldenen Kreuz ( Golden Cross Inn ), where Charles V made the acquaintance of Barbara Blomberg, the mother of Don John of Austria ( born 1547 ).

Heinrich Glarean wrote in 1547 that Josquin was not only a " magnificent virtuoso " ( the Latin can be translated also as " show-off ") but capable of being a " mocker ", using satire effectively.

" The rebels may have been articulating a grievance against the 1547 Act for the Punishment of Vagabonds, which made it legal to enslave a discharged servant who did not find a new master withing three days, though they may also have been calling for the manumission of the thousands of Englishmen and women who were serfs.

However, biblical scholars of the time, such as Justus Lipsius ( 1547 – 1606 ) and Athanasius Kircher ( c. 1601 – 80 ), were also beginning to subject the Ark story to rigorous scrutiny as they attempted to harmonize the biblical account with the growing body of natural historical knowledge.

* Casa Vasari ( in Via XX Settembre ) an older house rebuilt in 1547 by Giorgio Vasari and frescoed by him ; now open as a museum, it also contains 16th-century archives.

Afterwards, Toki Yorinari allied with Oda Nobuhide of Owari Province, which was on the southern border of Mino Province, but their defeat at the Battle of Kanōguchi, in 1547, solidified Dōsan's domination of Mino and also made him known throughout Japan.

The town also successfully withstood a siege in 1547 from the English commander Sir Thomas Carleton, but after the surrounding countryside had been overrun was compelled to surrender.

Photisarath ( also spelled Phothisarath, Phothisarat, or Potisarat ) ( 1501 – 1547 ) son of King Visunarat of Lanxang, is considered to be the most devout of the Lao kings, he banned spirit worship and built temples upon the sites of spirit shrines.

It was also believed that the craft " guilds " were abolished in England in 1547.

His successor, Henry II ( 1547 – 59 ), was also an excellent player and continued the royal French tradition.

During this period Foxe also found a patron in Mary Fitzroy, Duchess of Richmond, who hired him as tutor to the orphan children of her brother, Henry Howard, Earl of Surrey, a Catholic who had been executed for treason in January 1547.

It was also at the palace that the King died in January 1547.

Lutheranism was introduced into the county by Anthony I ( 1505 – 73, r. from 1529 ), who also suppressed the monasteries ; however, he remained loyal to Emperor Charles V during the Schmalkaldic War, and was able thus to increase his territories, obtaining Delmenhorst in 1547.

The Priory of St Thomas was suppressed and its property sold at the Dissolution of the Monasteries in 1536, with the Guild of the Holy Cross, the Guild of St John and their associated chantries also being disbanded in 1547.

Philipp Nicodemus Frischlin ( also spelled Nikodemus ) ( 22 September 1547 – 29 November 1590 ), German philologist, poet, playwright, mathematician, and astronomer, was born at Erzingen, today part of Balingen in Württemberg, where his father was parish minister.

The junior Albertine branch ruled as Electors ( 1547 – 1806 ) and Kings of Saxony ( 1806 – 1918 ) and also played a role in Polish history: two Wettin were Kings of Poland ( between 1697 – 1763 ) and a third ruled the Duchy of Warsaw ( 1807 – 1814 ) as a satellite of Napoleon.

In 1547 he produced a funeral oration for Henry VIII of England and published his first poems " Œuvres poétiques ", which included translations from the first two cantos of Homer's Odyssey and the first book of Virgil's Georgics, twelve Petrarchian sonnets, three Horacian odes and a Martial-like epigram ; this poetry collection also included the first published poems of Joachim Du Bellay and Pierre de Ronsard ( Ronsard would include Jacques Peletier into his list of revolutionary contemporary poets " La Pléiade ").

Similar acceptance of the IEEE 1547 in Europe is also taking place, as most electrical utilities will be providing or requiring units with this capability.

Eleanor of Austria ( 15 November 1498 – 25 February 1558 ), also called Eleanor of Castile, was born an Archduchess of Austria and Infanta of Castile from the House of Habsburg, and subsequently became Queen consort of Portugal ( 1518 – 1521 ) and of France ( 1530 – 1547 ).
