He commanded at La Rochelle during the famous Siege of La Rochelle ( 1627 – 1628 ).

He attended Prince Charles on the Spanish adventure, served as Admiral in the unsuccessful Cadiz Expedition in 1625, and commanded the disastrous attempt upon Rochelle in 1628, becoming the same year a member of the Council of war, and in 1633 a Member of the Council of Wales and the Marches.

The ship sailed for Java in October 1628 as part of a flotilla commanded by commandeur Francisco Pelsaert, and arrived safely in the Banda Strait in July 1629.

In 1628 Vilém Kinsky was elevated to the rank of count in the Bohemian nobility when the Albrecht von Wallenstein, to which he was connected, was elevated to Duke of Frýdlant.

Finally in May 1628, a deputation from the nobility agreed, before the king and privy council at Whitehall, on certain additional concessions in the " Graces " and then confirmed, that Ireland should provide a sum of £ 4, 000 for the army for three years.

In 1868, the 2nd Marquess of Ailesbury inherited the Earldom of Cardigan, and so the Marquesses of Ailesbury now also hold the titles Earl of Cardigan ( 1661 ) and Baron Brudenell, of Stanton Wyvill in the County of Leicester ( 1628 ), in the Peerage of England, as well as being Baronets of England, styled " of Deene in the County of Northampton ".

His will, signed and sealed on 17 November 1628 but not proved until 1633 ( 1632 old style ), leaves his estate to " my loving Cosin and Nephew Thomas Muchell of Longaston in the Countie of Somersett ..." His will also mentions two " policies of insurance " taken out with the diocesan Chancellor of London, Arthur Duck.

A renal corpuscle is also known as a Malpighian corpuscle, named after Marcello Malpighi ( 1628 – 1694 ), an Italian physician and biologist.

In 1628 he was also created Baron Hervey, of Kidbrooke in the County of Kent, in the Peerage of England.

Noël Coypel (; 25 December 1628 – 24 December 1707 ), French painter born in Paris, also called, from the fact that he was much influenced by Poussin, Coypel le Poussin, was the son of an unsuccessful artist.
