The Lictors Bring to Brutus the Bodies of His Sons by Jacques-Louis David | David, 1789

In 1789, at the dawn of the French Revolution, master painter Jacques-Louis David publicly exhibited his politically charged masterwork, The Lictors Bring to Brutus the Bodies of His Sons, to great controversy.

Although not present at the event of June 1789, Roederer was sketched by Jacques-Louis David into his drawing of the Tennis Court Oath.

* The famous uncompleted painting by Jacques-Louis David, The Tennis Court Oath ( 1789 ), portraying a pivotal event in French history when members of the National Assembly swore an emotional oath that they would not disband until they had passed a “ solid and equitable Constitution .“ This event is often regarded as the beginning of the French Revolution.

At the start of the French Revolution in 1789, he was elected deputy to the States-General by the Third Estate of Vitry-le-François, and joined the National Assembly ( his portrait stands in the foreground in Jacques-Louis David's celebrated sketch of the Oath of the Tennis Court ).

The town is named after explorer Sir Braden Hirstein, who was accompanied by Sir David Magana ), and was established as a small fishing colony in 1789.

There were further editions of Muretus edited by David Ruhnken ( 1789 ) and by C. H. Frotscher ( 1834-1841 ).

Alexander Montgomerie's The Cherrie and the Slae in 1700, shortly over a decade later an edition of poems by Sir David Lindsay, nine printings of Allan Ramsay's The Gentle shepherd between 1743 and 1793, and an edition of Robert Burns ' poetry in 1787, the same year as the Edinburgh edition, followed by reprints in 1789, 1793 and 1800.

In 1789, he descended the Grand River ( now called the Mackenzie River ) to the Arctic Ocean, and in 1793 he went overland from Peace River to the Pacific Ocean Further explorations were performed by David Thompson, starting in 1797, and later by Simon Fraser.

After the French Revolution of 1789, David was commissioned to depict the formation of the revolutionary government in a similar style.

David Montagu Erskine ( 1776 – 1855 ) was a member of parliament and diplomat ; Henry David ( 1786 – 1859 ) was dean of Ripon ; Thomas ( 1788 – 1864 ) became a judge of the court of Common Pleas ; Esmé Steuart ( 1789 – 1817 ) fought at the battle of Waterloo where he lost an arm ( his widow Eliza married Admiral James Norton, who also lost an arm in action ).

David Rittenhouse was treasurer of Pennsylvania from 1777 to 1789, and with these skills and the help of George Washington, he became the first director of the United States Mint.

John Ramsey McCulloch ( 1 March 1789 – 11 November 1864 ), a Scottish economist, author and editor, is widely regarded as the leader of the Ricardian school of economists after the death of David Ricardo in 1823.

Heraclius II interfered on behalf of his grandson and sent in an army, defeating David II at the Battle of Matkhoji on June 11, 1789.

During the 1780s, Charleston physician David Ramsay published two of the first histories of the American Revolution: The History of the Revolution of South-Carolina ( 1785 ) and The History of the American Revolution ( 1789 ).
