It was commissioned in 1806 after the victory at Austerlitz by Emperor Napoleon at the peak of his fortunes.

Following France's victory in the War of the Fourth Coalition, Napoleon Bonaparte marched into Berlin in 1806, but granted self-government to the city.

Following his conquest of most of Western Europe, the first Napoleon made his elder brother Joseph ( 1768 – 1844 ) king first of Naples ( 1806 – 1808 ) and then of Spain ( 1808 – 1813 ), his third brother Louis ( 1778 – 1846 ) king of Holland ( 1806 – 1810 ) ( subsequently forcing his abdication after his failure to subordinate Dutch interests to those of France ) and his youngest brother Jérôme Bonaparte ( 1784 – 1860 ) king of Westphalia, the short-lived realm created from some of the states of northwestern Germany ( 1807 – 1813 ).

At the Battle of Jena-Auerstedt on October 14, 1806 – when Napoleon invaded Prussia and defeated the massed Prussian-Saxon army commanded by Karl Wilhelm Ferdinand, Duke of Brunswick – he was captured, one of the 25, 000 prisoners captured that day as the Prussian army disintegrated.

Francis II () ( 12 February 1768 – 2 March 1835 ) was the last Holy Roman Emperor, ruling from 1792 until 6 August 1806, when he dissolved the Holy Roman Empire after the disastrous defeat of the Third Coalition by Napoleon at the Battle of Austerlitz.

The disaster at Jena in 1806, in which Napoleon completely crushed the Prussian army, drove him to Königsberg for a time, but he returned to Berlin in 1807 and continued his literary activity.

The old Holy Roman Empire was little more than a farce ; Napoleon simply abolished it in 1806 while forming new countries under his control.

Prussia tried to remain neutral while imposing tight controls on dissent, but with German nationalism sharply on the rise, the small nation blundered by going to war with Napoleon in 1806.

Napoleon easily crushed it at the Battle of Jena ( 1806 ).

A pro-French Batavian Republic was established ( 1795 – 1806 ), and with the consolidation of French power under Napoleon gradually turned into a French satellite state, culminating in the Kingdom of Holland ( 1806 – 1810 ) and later simply an imperial province.

Largely outnumbered, the Prussian army was crushed at Jena-Auerstedt in 1806 ; Napoleon captured Berlin and went as far as Eastern Prussia.

On August 6, 1806, pressed both by Napoleon and by several German princes ( including some Electors ), the last Holy Roman emperor, Emperor Francis II, by edict dissolved the Empire.

In the course of the war of the Fourth Coalition against Napoleon, troops under Bernadotte occupied the neutral Lübeck after a battle against Blücher on November 6, 1806.

In the Greater Poland Uprising of 1806, Polish soldiers and civilian volunteers assisted the efforts of Napoleon by driving out Prussian forces from the region.

Initially known appropriately as the Achteck ( Octagon ), on 15 September 1814 it was renamed Leipziger Platz after the site of Prussia's final decisive defeat of Napoleon Bonaparte at the Battle of Leipzig, 16 – 19 October 1813, which brought to an end the Wars of Liberation that had been going on since 1806.

However, since the days of King Louis Napoleon ( 1806 ) The Hague has been allowed to call itself a city.

The works began in 1806 by order of Napoleone Bonaparte, under superivison of architect Luigi Cagnola.

Two of his most successful paintings, Bonaparte Visiting the Plague Victims of Jaffa ( 1804 ) and Battle of Abukir ( 1806 ) focus on the Emperor, as he was by then, but include many Egyptian figures, as does the less effective Napoleon at the Battle of the Pyramids ( 1810 ).

Ferdinand was forced to flee from Naples in 1806 when Napoleon Bonaparte deposed him and installed his brother, Joseph, as king.

In 1806, after Napoleon's victory in the Battle of Jena-Auerstedt, Kotzebue fled to Russia and, in the safety of his estate in Estonia, wrote many satirical articles against Napoleon Bonaparte, published in his journals Die Biene ( The Bee ) and Die Grille ( The Cricket ).

He took part in the campaigns of Austerlitz, Jena and Friedland, and was created duke of Valengin in 1806, sovereign prince of Neuchâtel in the same year and vice-constable of the empire in 1807.

He occupied Venice and the Republic of Ragusa in 1806, was made governor-general of Venice in 1807, took part in the Erfurt negotiations of 1808, was ennobled as a count, and served with the emperor during the Peninsular War in Spain ( 1808 – 1809 ), where he commanded the division that besieged and won Pamplona.

Willard eventually took charge of the academy for a term in 1806.

On 13 November 1806 an uprising against the Prussians took place in Sieradz.

Hardwicke was Member of Parliament for Cambridgeshire from 1780 to 1790, following the Whig traditions of his family, but after his succession to the earldom in 1790 he supported William Pitt The Younger, and took office in 1801 as Lord Lieutenant of Ireland ( 1801 – 1806 ), where he supported Catholic emancipation.
