A pro-French Batavian Republic was established ( 1795 – 1806 ), and with the consolidation of French power under Napoleon gradually turned into a French satellite state, culminating in the Kingdom of Holland ( 1806 – 1810 ) and later simply an imperial province.

In 1810 Dalberg ceded Regensburg to the Kingdom of Bavaria, he himself being compensated by the award of Fulda and Hanau to him under the title of " Grand Duke of Frankfurt ".

On 30 June 1810 the French army handed over the former principality to the what was now the Kingdom of Bavaria, which it had bought from Napoleon for 15 million francs.

The Kingdom of Holland 1806 – 1810 (, ) was set up by Napoleon Bonaparte as a puppet kingdom for his third brother, Louis Bonaparte, in order to better control the Netherlands.

Napoleon finally invaded Holland on 1 July 1810, forcing Louis to abdicate the same day, and annexed the entire Kingdom of Holland on 9 July.

In 1810 Veghel became part of the Kingdom of the Netherlands.

Following his conquest of most of Western Europe, the first Napoleon made his elder brother Joseph ( 1768 – 1844 ) king first of Naples ( 1806 – 1808 ) and then of Spain ( 1808 – 1813 ), his third brother Louis ( 1778 – 1846 ) king of Holland ( 1806 – 1810 ) ( subsequently forcing his abdication after his failure to subordinate Dutch interests to those of France ) and his youngest brother Jérôme Bonaparte ( 1784 – 1860 ) king of Westphalia, the short-lived realm created from some of the states of northwestern Germany ( 1807 – 1813 ).

After annexing the southern provinces of Holland into the Empire, Napoleon convinced Louis to abdicate and in 1810 annexed the kingdom into the French Empire making the Netherlands, in effect, an integral part of France itself.

In 1810, after his Dutch kingdom was taken away from him, Louis remained in Holland for nearly three years, turning to writing and poetry.

( Note that he was not the first King of Holland ; that was Louis Bonaparte ( 1778 – 1846 ), who had reigned from 1806 to 1810.

La Rochefoucauld became ambassador successively to Vienna ( 1805 ) and to the Hague ( 1808 – 1810 ), where he negotiated the union of Holland with France.

Oudinot administered the government of the Kingdom of Holland from 1810 to 1812, and commanded the II Corps of La Grande Armée in the Russian campaign.

Two journals projected by him were not allowed by the government to survive for any length of time, and in 1810 the complications in the affairs of Holland induced him to return homewards.

The replacement of the Batavian Republic with the Kingdom of Holland ( 1806 – 1810 ) saw the first return of the lion of the States General.

After the emperor Napoleon abolished the Kingdom of Holland in 1810 the lion again had to leave the stage and the Imperial Eagle was the only image in use.

Holland returned to Congress in 1801, serving for five terms ( March 4, 1801-March 3, 1811 ), stepping down in 1810.

When the Kingdom of Holland was incorporated into France in 1810, Daendels returned to Holland.
