Augustus (, September 23, 63 BC – August 19, 14 AD ) was the founder of the Roman Empire and its first Emperor, ruling from 27 BC until his death in 14 AD.

It is the events of 27 BC from which he obtained his traditional name of Augustus, which historians use in reference from 27 BC until his death in 14 AD.

The Roman province by that name had been on hiatus from 27 BC and re-established by Emperor Vespasian only in 72 AD.

Augustus, the first Emperor ( r. 27 BC – AD 14 ), had nominally shared power with his colleagues, and more formal offices of co-Emperor had existed from Marcus Aurelius ( r. 161 – 80 ) on.

In the following year, 27 AD, he is again mentioned by Tacitus as the accuser of Quinctilius Varus, the son of Claudia Pulchra.

The first period of the Roman Empire, from 27 BC-284 AD, is called the principate for this reason.

The Principate ( 27 BC-284 AD ) period was succeeded by what is known as the Dominate ( 284 AD-527 AD ), during which Emperor Diocletian tried to put the Empire on a more formal footing.

The Julio-Claudian dynasty normally refers to the first five Roman Emperors: Augustus, Tiberius, Caligula ( also known as Gaius ), Claudius, and Nero, or the family to which they belonged ; they ruled the Roman Empire from its formation, in the second half of the 1st century ( 44 / 31 / 27 ) BC, until AD 68, when the last of the line, Nero, committed suicide.

The Roman state is henceforth known as the Roman Empire, and the period from 27 BC to AD 305 as the Principate.

Its span was about 207 years ( 27 BC to 180 AD ).

The Pax Romana began with the accession of Augustus in 27 BC, which marked the end of the Roman Republic and its final civil wars, and lasted until 180 AD at the death of Marcus Aurelius.

Travel throughout the Mediterranean and Near East, especially for scholarly purposes, was popular during this era and was facilitated by the relative peace enjoyed throughout the reign of Augustus ( 27 BC – AD 14 ).

It's also mentioned that the home was made of titanium instead of wood ( and is consequently bomb-proof ), has 26 ( or maybe 27 ) rooms — if Fester has made a new addition with his cannon — and the house has apparently been in the family for centuries.

" Isaiah 27: 1 uses the first of these phrases to describe Leviathan ( although in this case the name " Leviathan " apparently refers to an unnamed historical / political enemy of Israel rather than the original serpent-monster ).

It was named for Andreas Leopold Goffin, a friend of Finsch and apparently a Dutch naval lieutenant who died the same year at the age of 27.

His tenure as manager ended in tragic circumstances two weeks later when he was found dead at his home on 27 November, having apparently committed suicide.

After the resignation of former National Party Leader of the Opposition Don Brash ( 27 November 2006 ), internal party discussion apparently ensued over the post of deputy parliamentary party leader.

On August 27, 1951, he threw out Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher Mel Queen by two feet at first base after Queen had apparently singled into right field.

For reasons apparently lost to history, Manley went by the name of John Russell during his time spent in Marblehead, where he married Martha Russell ( née Hickman ) on September 27, 1764, and by whom he had at least two sons and three daughters.

He married Ava Bodley ( 1896 – 1974 ) ( daughter of the historian J. E. C. Bodley ) on 28 February, 1925 ; they had one child, Charles Edward Thomas Bodley Wigram ( 27 Nov 1929 – 14 Aug 1951 ) ( who apparently suffered from some sort of birth defect, but sources disagree whether it was Down's Syndrome or cerebral palsy ).

Following the January 24, 2006 announcement that UPN and The WB would merge into a new network called The CW to launch fall 2006, KQEG gained a bit of national notoriety when it was apparently the first station to drop UPN network affiliation due to the merger, as of January 27, 2006.
