As discussed in Steve Stone's 1999 book, Where's Harry ?, Caray was at a Rancho Mirage restaurant on February 14, 1998, celebrating Valentine's Day with his wife Dutchie, when he collapsed, in the process allegedly hitting his head on the side of a restaurant table, and was rushed to nearby Eisenhower Medical Center.

In 1999, Stone, along with Barry Rozner of the Chicago suburban area Daily Herald, authored Where's Harry ?, a memoir of his experiences with Harry Caray in the WGN booth.

Draco Malfoy becomes the master of the Elder Wand when he disarms Dumbledore, but it transfers its loyalty to Harry after he takes Draco's wand in a later fight at Malfoy Manor.

After Voldemort's death, Harry uses the Elder Wand to repair his own damaged wand, then decides to return it to Dumbledore's tomb ; he also drops the Resurrection Stone in the Forbidden Forest, but decides not to look for it in the hope that no wizard will ever be able to own all three Hallows.

Furthermore, the Elder Wand's allegiance had since shifted to Harry, as Harry had subsequently forcefully Disarmed Draco and taken his wand ( although that was not the Elder Wand ).

In the film, however, Harry does not repair his phoenix-feather wand and instead chooses to snap the Elder Wand in two and throw it away forever, presumably remembering what had happened to Antioch Peverell long ago, or to prevent the wand from falling into the wrong hands again.

Rowling revealed in an interview that the first working title for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows was Harry Potter and the Elder Wand.

This type of damage to a wand is nearly irreparable, though Harry is able to mend his wand, which was accidentally broken by Hermione, with the help of the powerful Elder Wand.
