On June 7, 1776, Richard Henry Lee tabled a resolution before the Continental Congress declaring the colonies independent ; at the same time he also urged Congress to resolve “ to take the most effectual measures for forming foreign Alliances ” and to prepare a plan of confederation for the newly-independent states.

On June 12, 1776, a day after appointing a committee to prepare a draft of the Declaration of Independence, the Second Continental Congress resolved to appoint a committee of 13 to prepare a draft of a constitution for a union of the states.

" Anticipating the Declaration of Independence, Patriot leaders Thomas McKean and Caesar Rodney convinced the Colonial Assembly to declare itself separated from British and Pennsylvania rule on June 15, 1776.

He resigned his crown-appointed positions in 1776 and, on June 22, went on to represent New Jersey in the Second Continental Congress where he signed the Declaration of Independence.

He was a signatory to the Articles of Confederation and his famous resolution of June 1776 led to the United States Declaration of Independence, which Lee signed.

In Lee's Resolution on the 7th of June 1776 during the Second Continental Congress, Lee put forth the motion to the Continental Congress to declare Independence from Great Britain, which read ( in part ):

When Congress began considering a resolution of independence in June 1776, Adams ensured that Jefferson was appointed to the five-man committee to write a declaration in support of the resolution.

" A final draft was presented to the Congress on June 28, 1776.

He served as a Delegate from September 26, 1776 – June 1, 1779, as the war continued.

Support for a Congressional declaration of independence was consolidated in the final weeks of June 1776.

On June 15, the Provincial Congress of New Jersey, which had been governing the province since January 1776, resolved that Royal Governor William Franklin was " an enemy to the liberties of this country " and had him arrested.

On June 11, 1776, Congress appointed a " Committee of Five ", consisting of John Adams of Massachusetts, Benjamin Franklin of Pennsylvania, Thomas Jefferson of Virginia, Robert R. Livingston of New York, and Roger Sherman of Connecticut, to draft a declaration.

The committee presented this copy to the Congress on June 28, 1776.

The Mission was founded on June 29, 1776, by Lieutenant José Joaquin Moraga and Father Francisco Palóu ( a companion of Father Junipero Serra ), both members of the de Anza Expedition, which had been charged with bringing Spanish settlers to Alta ( upper ) California, and evangelizing the local Natives, the Ohlone.

On June 28, 1776 General Henry Clinton with 2, 000 men and a naval squadron tried to seize Charleston, hoping for a simultaneous Loyalist uprising in South Carolina.

On June 28, 1776, Jefferson's draft including initial alterations of a Declaration of Independence was reported to Congress by the Committee of Five charged with the initial drafting ; Congress then " laid it on the table ".

On June 21, 1775, Marion was commissioned Captain in the 2nd South Carolina Regiment under William Moultrie, with whom he served in June 1776 in the defense of Fort Sullivan ( today known as Fort Moultrie ), in Charleston harbor.

On 19 June 1934, the US Congress passed a joint resolution authorizing the President to join ILO without joining the League of Nations as a whole.

The IEC held its inaugural meeting on 26 June 1906, following discussions between the British Institution of Electrical Engineers, the American Institute of Electrical Engineers, and others, which began at the 1900 Paris International Electrical Congress, and continued with Colonel R. E. B. Crompton playing a key role.
