Nam Chung (, Pinyin: nán chōng ) is an area in the north eastern New Territories of Hong Kong, west of Luk Keng and to the southwest of the Starling Inlet ( Sha Tau Kok Hoi ), opposite of Sha Tau Kok.

The area is linked to Fanling-Sheung Shui New Town and Sha Tau Kok via Sha Tau Kok Road and Luk Keng Road.

4 years later in 1972, construction on the S $ 5. 8 million system commenced, and was officially opened on 15 February 1974 by then Deputy Prime Minister, Dr. Goh Keng Swee.

A crisis was averted when Tun Dr Lim Keng Yaik, the then president of Gerakan, was able to convince the then Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohammad to allow an ethnic Chinese to continue on in the role of the Chief Minister.

In 1962, the Finance Minister Dr Goh Keng Swee, laid the foundation stone for the National Iron and Steel Mills, the first factory in the new industrial estate.

In 1970, Hon succeeded Goh Keng Swee as Minister of Finance and served in that capacity for 13 years until 1983.

It came under the command of the newly formed 7th Singapore Infantry Brigade ( 7SIB ) together with two Guards battalions in 1977 under an initiative to turn 7SIB into an elite formation, and received its state and regimental colours on 22 January 1977 by the then Minister for Defence, Goh Keng Swee, on behalf of the then President Benjamin Henry Sheares.

Tun Dr. Lim Keng Yaik (; born 8 April 1939 ) is a former Malaysian politician and former Minister of Energy, Water and Communications in the Malaysian cabinet.

The Chinese names for China Street are Kiau Keng Cheng ( front of the gambling houses ) and Hok Kien Ghi Hin Kong Si Cheng ( front of the Hokkien Ghi Hin Kongsi ).

Surprisingly, in the heart of this diverse Chinese community is the most important temple for Singaporean Indians, the Sri Mariamman Hindu Tamil Temple, and the Indian mosques, Al-Abrar Mosque at Telok Ayer Street and Jamae Mosque at Mosque Street, as well as the Fukien Thian Hock Keng Chinese Temple of 1830 to 1842.

Jang Keng ( sometimes called " Jengo ", or Jang for short ) is a black cat and Tekirai (" Teki " for short ) is a fluffy white cat.

The incident gave the Chinese name for the site 吊頸嶺 ( Tiu Keng Leng / Jyutping: diu3 geng2 leng5 ), meaning " Hanging ( neck ) Ridge ".

Tan also contributed money to the construction of the Taoist Thian Hock Keng Temple at Telok Ayer in 1842, the place of worship for the settlers from Fujian, China.

He was a member of the Commission for the Pacification of Larut set up following the signing of the Pangkor Treaty of 1874 and he served alongside John Frederick Adolphus McNair, and Chinese Kapitan Chung Keng Quee and Chin Seng Yam.

This is because the trackway from Luk Keng is impractical, though some residents are known to use it, it is more usual for people to take a boat across.

Luk Keng is well known for its natural scenery and wildlife, which is a contrast to Hong Kong's modernised culture.

Therefore the Thian Hock Keng Temple built in 1839 along Telok Ayer Road used to face the sea and it was visited by Chinese immigrants giving thanks to Ma Zu ( Goddess of the Sea ) for their safe voyage.

Perhaps even more radical was Ong Keng Sen's 1997 adaptation of King Lear, which featured six actors each performing in a separate Asian acting tradition and in their own separate languages.

Other settlements include Mui Wo, Tai O, Tong Fuk, Sha Lo Wan villages, Pui O villages, Luk Keng Village, Nim Shue Wan Village, San Shek Wan and The Sea Ranch.

The present-day concept of the Causeway Bay area covers all the way until Canal Road ( Canal Road East and Canal Road West ), or the Canal Road district or in Chinese Ngo Keng Kiu ( 鵝頸橋 ), lit., the bridge of a goose's neck.

Two of the oldest and best known Chinese temples in Singapore, Thian Hock Keng aka Tian Fu Gong ( belongs to the Hokkien Clan ) and Yueh Hai Ching Temple aka Yue Hai Qing Miao ( belongs to the Teochew & Cantonese Clan ), were both dedicated mainly to Mazu, and in the 19th century were frequented by immigrants who came to give thanks after a safe sea voyage from China.

There are also three shrines known as Gew Leng Thong, Sam San Tian Hew Geng, Keng Jew Hui Guan.

In 1912, the medical school received an endowment of $ 120, 000 from the King Edward VII Memorial Fund, started by Dr Lim Boon Keng.

During the opening ceremony, the College conferred Honorary Diplomas on Sir David James Galloway, Dr Malcolm Watson and Dr Lim Boon Keng.

Near the end of October, Chen Jiongming, Deng Keng ( 鄧鏗 ), Peng Reihai ( 彭瑞海 ) and other members of Guangdong's Tongmenghui organized local militias to launch the uprising in Huazhou, Nanhai, Sunde and Sanshui in Guangdong Province.

Dato ' Onn Jaafar stressed at the first meeting that the citizens of the Federation of Malaya did not want the interference of external powers in the affairs of the Federation ; the Chinese representative Dr Ong Chong Keng asserted that the Chinese people would be loyal to the Federation of Malaya.

It starts at Yau Ma Tei in West Kowloon and ends at Tiu Keng Leng in Tseung Kwan O, Sai Kung.

The current President of Singapore is Tony Tan Keng Yam.

In August 2011, Tony Tan Keng Yam won the 2011 presidential election by a narrow 0. 34 % margin.

The election was won by Tony Tan Keng Yam with 745, 693 ( 35. 19 %) of valid votes.
