Andronicus wrote a work upon Aristotle, the fifth book of which contained a complete list of the philosopher's writings, and he also wrote commentaries upon the Physics, Ethics, and Categories.

Cornutus wrote a work on Rhetoric, and a commentary on the Categories of Aristotle, ( πρὸς Ἁθηνόδωρον καὶ Ἀριστοτέλην ) whose philosophy he attacked along with his fellow Stoic Athenodorus.

This was an advance over the logica antiqua, which treated the Isagoge of Porphyry, Divisions and Topics of Boethius, the Categories and On Interpretation of Aristotle, and the Summule logicales of Peter of Spain.

It is not to be confused with ' praedicamenta ', the schoolmen's term for Aristotle's ten Categories.

The Categories places every object of human apprehension under one of ten categories ( known to medieval writers as the Latin term praedicamenta ).

The Major Diagnostic Categories ( MDC ) are formed by dividing all possible principal diagnoses ( from ICD-9-CM ) into 25 mutually exclusive diagnosis areas.

In 1977 he was elected to the Martin professorship in mathematics for 5 years, which made possible the meeting on " Categories in Continuum Physics " in 1982.
