A semi-serious literary document entitled `` The Wings Of Henry James '' is noteworthy, if only for a keenly trenchant though little-known comment on the master's difficult later period by modest Owen Wister, author of `` The Virginian ''.

In the semi-autobiographic Henry Miller's Tropic of Capricorn the narrator describes a period of time selling the Encyclopædia Britannica door by door in the town.

* The fifth surviving longbow comes from the armoury of the church in the village of Mendlesham in Suffolk, and is believed to date either from the period of Henry VIII or Queen Elizabeth I.
