In the popular drama series, The Vampire Diaries currently airing on The CW Television Network, the character of Elena Gilbert is a doppelgänger of the vampire Katherine Pierce ( original name ; Katerina Petrova ).

Katerina Ivanovna Verkhovtseva, called Katya, Katka, and Katenka, Katerina Ivanovna is Dmitri's beautiful fiancee, despite his open forays with Grushenka.

Katerina is extremely proud and seeks to act as a noble martyr, suffering as a stark reminder of everyone's guilt.

" Katerina says " No ," and repeats, " I have been looking for you for so long ," implying that Gosha is the first decent man she has met since that fateful dinner party twenty years ago.

The convoy arrives at a river and boards a ferry, and Katerina, repeating some phrases similar to Sergei's feigned nostalgia for their life at the estate, tackles Sonya overboard after seeing the faces of Boris, Zinovy, and Fyodor in the water.

One evening he serenades " Katerina " outside her dorm, with Cyril providing guitar accompaniment.

Fiona and " little Sonya ," two members of the prison convoy with Katerina and Sergei, are introduced, the former being known for being sexually prolific, the latter the opposite.

This leaves Katerina alone with the baby.

The movie shows Katerina with tears in her eyes setting her alarm clock in a dormitory where she just arrived after bearing her daughter, Alexandra ( subsequently played as a grown young woman by Natalya Vavilova ), then takes a 20-year leap forward in time.

He finds him drinking and, after getting drunk with him, he convinces Gosha to return to Katerina.

Fiona and an old man in the convoy, Gordyushka, defend Katerina, but to no avail.
