* Queen Caroline, consort of King George II of Great Britain was born in Ansbach in 1683.

In Eger ( Cheb ) on 11 November 1464 Albert married Zdenka ( Sidonie ), daughter of George of Podebrady, King of Bohemia ; but failed to obtain the Bohemian Crown on the death of George in 1471.

Founded in 1764 prior to American independence from the British Empire as the College in the English Colony of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations early in the reign of King George III ( 1760 – 1820 ), Brown is the third oldest institution of higher education in New England and seventh oldest in the United States.

The college gained its charter by grant of King George III.

The current Governor of the Bank of England is Sir Mervyn King, who took over on 30 June 2003 from Sir Edward George.

On 7 June 1753, King George II gave his formal assent to the Act of Parliament which established the British Museum.

In 1757 King George II gave the Old Royal Library and with it the right to a copy of every book published in the country, thereby ensuring that the Museum's library would expand indefinitely.

After the defeat of the French Campaign in the Battle of the Nile, in 1801, the British Museum acquired more Egyptian sculpture and in 1802 King George III presented the Rosetta Stone – key to the deciphering of hieroglyphs.

In 1802 a Buildings Committee was set up to plan for expansion of the museum, and further highlighted by the donation in 1822 of the King's Library, personal library of King George III's, comprising 65, 000 volumes, 19, 000 pamphlets, maps, charts and topographical drawing.

Of this grand plan only the Edward VII galleries in the centre of the North Front were ever constructed, these were built 1906-14 to the design by J. J. Burnet, and opened by King George V and Queen Mary in 1914.

In horse racing, there is the King George VI Chase at Kempton Park Racecourse in Surrey.

In 2000, following a media uproar prompted by the visit of presidential candidate George W. Bush to the university, Bob Jones III abruptly dropped the interracial dating rule, announcing the change on CNN's " Larry King Live ".

King George VI's pennies ( 1937 – 1952 ) also have a left-facing bust of the king, with the inscription ( to 1948 ), and ( from 1949 ).

Notable exhibits in the museum are Thrust2 and ThrustSSC, the British jet cars which broke the land speed record in 1983 and 1997 respectively and some of the Royal cars-Queen Mary's and King George VI's State limousines.
