The straight angular forms of Kufic were replaced in the new script by curved and oblique lines.

Kufic is a form of script consisting of straight lines and angles, often with elongated verticals and horizontals.

Typical turquoise tiling becomes popular in 10th-11th century and is used mostly for Kufic inscriptions on mosque walls.

The site was believed to have used originally during the Sasanid era as a Zoroastrian temple., An inscription located 14 metres high on the south wall which in old Kufic script mentions Qubbeye Masud ibn Davud or Kubey Mesud ibn Da ’ ud, an architect active during the 12th century ; he was the father of architect who built the Mardakan Round Tower.

It is noted for its double-depth calligraphy inscriptions, in the Naskh and Kufic scripts.

The Shroud of St Josse is a famous samite cloth from East Persia, which originally had a carpet-like design with two pairs of confronted elephants, surrounded by borders including rows of camels and an inscription in Kufic script, from which the date appears to be before 961.

In January 2008, however, Iraq's parliament passed a law to change the flag by leaving in the phrase, but changing the calligraphy of the words Allahu Akbar, which had been a copy of Saddam's handwriting, to a Kufic script.

One example is a Quranic page of North African origin written with gold lettering in the Kufic script – it is more than 1, 000 years old.

The portal is also decorated with two medallions inside of which there are inscriptions in Kufic Arabic.

Maghrebi ( or Maghribi ) script is a cursive form of the Arabic alphabet influenced by Kufic letters that developed in the Maghreb ( North Africa ) and later in Spain, particularly Andalusia.

The mausoleum's exterior walls are covered in glazed tiles constituting geometric patterns with Kufic and Suls epigraphic ornaments derived from the Qur ' an.
