Lists of phenomena, from the contemplation of which " the savage " was led to believe in animism, have been given by Sir E. B. Tylor, Herbert Spencer, Andrew Lang, and others ; a controversy arose between the former as to the priority of their respective lists.

Friedrich Christian Anton " Fritz " Lang ( December 5, 1890 – August 2, 1976 ) was an Austrian-American filmmaker, screenwriter, and occasional film producer and actor.

Lang was born in Vienna as the second son of Anton Lang ( 1860 – 1940 ), an architect and construction company manager, and his wife Pauline " Paula " Lang née Schlesinger ( 1864 – 1920 ).

Fritz Lang himself was baptized on 28 December 1890 at the Schottenkirche in Vienna.

At the outbreak of World War I, Lang returned to Vienna and volunteered for military service in the Austrian army and fought in Russia and Romania, where he was wounded three times.

His writing stint was brief, as Lang soon started to work as a director at the German film studio Ufa, and later Nero-Film, just as the Expressionist movement was building.

She and Lang co-wrote all of his movies from 1921 through 1933, including 1922's Dr. Mabuse, der Spieler ( Dr. Mabuse the Gambler ), which ran for over four hours in two parts in the original version and was the first in the Dr. Mabuse trilogy, 1924's five-hour Die Nibelungen, the famous 1927 film Metropolis, and the 1931 classic, M, his first " talking " picture.

Lang epitomized the stereotype of the tyrannical German film director such as Erich von Stroheim and Otto Preminger ; he was known for being hard to work with.

Whereas Lang was worried about the advent of the Nazi regime, partly because of his Jewish heritage, his wife and screen writer Thea von Harbou had started to sympathize with the Nazis in the early 1930s and joined the NSDAP in 1932.

According to Lang, propaganda minister Joseph Goebbels called Lang to his offices to inform him that The Testament of Dr Mabuse was being banned but that he was nevertheless so impressed by Lang's abilities as a filmmaker ( especially Metropolis ), he was offering Lang a position as the head of German film studio UFA.

Lang had stated that it was during this meeting that he had decided to leave for Paris-but that the banks had closed by the time the meeting was over.

After the Australian Labor Party ( ALP ) lost government in 1922, Lang was elected as Opposition Leader in 1923 by his fellow Labor Party MPs.

Lang vigorously opposed these measures and was elected in a landslide in October 1930.

Mayor Lang and Delaware Mayor Gary Milner, with their respective elected delegations looking on, signed a joint resolution, “ holding the firm belief that this agreement will contribute toward the peace and prosperity of the world, and do hereby pledge to cooperate with each other as twin / sister cities .”

The electorate in this district is more conservative than in the one that elected him previously, and Lang was criticized an outsider, although he countered that he was born in the area.

Hedi Lang ( 30 October 1931 in Uster-31 March 2004 ) was a Swiss politician, the first woman elected to a cantonal executive in Switzerland ( Canton of Zurich ) and second woman to preside the Swiss National Council ( 1981 / 1982 ).

* Malcolm Lang, who was elected as a Labour Party of Canada Member of Parliament in the 1926 federal election, was re-elected as " Liberal-Labour " in the north-eastern Ontario riding of Timiskaming South in the 1930 federal election.

The Hùng Vương would have been the head chieftain of Văn Lang which at the time was composed of feudal communities of rice farmers ( similar to the way the Holy Roman Emperor was elected to rule by fellow German princes ).

It was the official policy of President François Mitterrand, elected in 1981, and particularly his Minister of Culture Jack Lang, to promote these kinds of films through increased funding of the ailing French film industry.

In 1843 Lang was elected to the New South Wales Legislative Council as the representative of the Port Phillip District, holding his seat until 1846.

As luck would have it, the sudden death of the newly elected East Sydney MP John Clasby before he even took his seat in parliament led to another by-election in early 1932, which Ward, again standing as a Lang Labor candidate, won.

Although the Labor Party, under its parliamentary leader Jack Lang, rejected Communism, Garden as Secretary of the Trades Hall was a powerful figure in the labour movement, and in 1923 he was readmitted to the Labor Party and elected to its state executive.

The new government was formed solely of Lang supporters and Lang used the four months prior to the election to ensure that his opponents were denied ALP pre-selection. The ALP lost the election but the caucus that was elected was under Lang's control and he was able to dominate the party in NSW for the next 12 years.

Lang Labor's final appearance in federal politics came when Lang was elected to the House of Representatives for the federal seat of Reid at the 1946 election, being elected with the benefit of Liberal Party preferences.

Lang continued to lead the Labor Opposition, although the NSW Branch of the ALP remained separate from the rest of the party.

Lang was expelled from the ALP in 1942, and started his own parallel Labor Party, called the ALP ( Non-Communist ), but this time with only minority support in the NSW party and unions.

For the 2007 presidential election, many potential candidates appeared: François Hollande, Laurent Fabius ( from the left-wing of the party ), Dominique Strauss-Kahn ( who claimed to represent " social democracy "), Jack Lang, Martine Aubry and Ségolène Royal, who was favoured according to the polls.

The Socialist Party denounced Lang for this vote ; party spokesman Julien Dray said that he had " gone too far " and " no longer has his place in our political family ", while Jean-Marc Ayrault, the President of the Socialist Parliamentary Group, said that Lang's vote was an act of " crossing the Rubicon ".

Hardship as a result of the Great Depression, and the election of Jack Lang of the Labor party as Premier of New South Wales, sparked the formation of the " Riverina Movement ".

However, on 5 September Lang was deposed by his party and replaced by the more moderate William McKell, who became Premier at the May 1941 election and got on well with Wakehurst, extending his term past 1942.

Upon beaming down to the planet, the landing party, consisting of Captain Kirk, First Officer Spock, Chief Medical Officer Dr. McCoy and three crewmembers ( Kelowitz, Lang, and O ' Herlihy ), find the outpost nearly obliterated.

In 1924, however, Lang regained control of the New South Wales Labor Party and had Garden and other Communists once again expelled from the party, a decision which was upheld by the federal executive.

It has been a safe seat for the Australian Labor Party, but in the 1930s and 40s it was fiercely contested between Federal Labor and Lang Labor factions of the party.

Jack Lang and his supporters, mainly in New South Wales, were expelled from the party and formed a left-wing splinter party officially known as the " New South Wales Labor Party ," popularly known as " Lang Labor ".

He leaves the party and sits on the front porch of the host's house to read his book, but falls asleep while everyone is watching the Times Square Ball drop on TV and singing Auld Lang Syne.

However Lang continued to enjoy the overwhelming support of the party branches and he controlled a large majority at the annual conference, which was the party's ultimate forum.

Lang responded to the challenge by calling a special meeting of the party conference where, at his request, the conference took a supervisory role in the pre-selection of party candidates, took away from caucus the power to elect the parliamentary leader and allowed the party leader to select the cabinet.

In 1931 Lang had the support of the state party when he repudiated the Premiers ' Plan for the economic management of the Great Depression and imposed a moratorium on the New South Wales government's overseas loans.

Although Fowler and James Lang were both re-elected in 1947, the party was essentially defunct by 1950, and Fowler and Lang were defeated.
