Design patent issued to Leo Fender for the second-generation Precision Bass

In the 1950s, Leo Fender, with the help of his employee George Fullerton, developed the first mass-produced electric bass.

In 1951, Leo Fender independently released his Precision Bass, the first commercially successful electric bass guitar.

After World War II the completely solid-body electric was popularized by Gibson in collaboration with Les Paul, and independently by Leo Fender of Fender Music.

During the early 1940s, Rickenbacker amps were sometimes repaired by Leo Fender, whose repair shop evolved into the Fender Electric Instrument Manufacturing Company.

In 1959, Rhodes entered a joint venture with Leo Fender to manufacture the instruments under a company named Fender & Rhodes.

On the Suitcase model the signal is processed through a " StereoVibrato ", a low-frequency pan oscillation ( actually a tremolo, but Leo Fender insisted on calling it vibrato, like on his amplifiers ) effects unit, which pans the signal back and forth between right and left channels.

Paul Tutmarc of Audiovox Manufacturing Co. built a solid body electric bass in 1935 and Adolph Rickenbacker had marketed a solid-body guitar in the 1930s and Paul A. Bigsby had built one for Merle Travis in 1948 and Leo Fender also independently created his own ( the Fender " Broadcaster " later changed to " Esquire " for copyright reasons, a single pickup model ) in 1948.

During the year The Dingoes toured nationally with various artists including Bad Company, Leo Sayer, Bo Diddley and Freddy Fender.

Clarence Leonidas " Leo " Fender ( August 10, 1909 – March 21, 1991 ) was an American inventor who founded Fender Electric Instrument Manufacturing Company, or " Fender " for short.

Clarence Leonidas Fender (" Leo ") was born on August 10, 1909, to Clarence Monte Fender and Harriet Elvira Wood, owners of a successful orange grove located between Anaheim and Fullerton, California.
