On 30 November 1682 he was raised to the Peerage of Scotland as Lord Haddo, Methlic, Tarves and Kellie, Viscount of Formartine and Earl of Aberdeen.

The third earl was succeeded by his grandson, the fourth Earl, who was the eldest son of George Gordon, Lord Haddo.

George Gordon, 1st Earl of Aberdeen ( 6 October 1637 – 20 April 1720 ), Lord Chancellor of Scotland, was the second son of Sir John Gordon, 1st Baronet, of Haddo, Aberdeenshire, ( executed in 1644 ); by his wife, Mary Forbes.

In November 1678 he was made a Privy Counsellor for Scotland, and in 1680 was raised to the bench as Lord Haddo.

In 1682 he was made Lord Chancellor of Scotland, and was created, on 13 November, Earl of Aberdeen, Viscount Formartine, and Lord Haddo, Methlick, Tarves and Kellie, in the Scottish peerage, being appointed also Sheriff Principal of Aberdeenshire and Midlothian.

George Hamilton-Gordon, 4th Earl of Aberdeen ( 28 January 1784 – 14 December 1860 ), styled Lord Haddo from 1791 to 1801, was a British politician and landowner, successively a Tory, Conservative and Peelite, who served as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from 1852 until 1855.

Born in Edinburgh on 28 January 1784, he was the eldest son of George Gordon, Lord Haddo, son of George Gordon, 3rd Earl of Aberdeen.

George Gordon, 2nd Marquess of Aberdeen and Temair OBE, K. StJ, JP ( 20 January 1879 – 6 January 1965 ), styled Lord Haddo until 1916 and Earl of Haddo from 1916 to 1934, was a Scottish peer and politician.

Lord Haddo is married to Isabelle Coaten.
