Alexander Emmanuel Rodolphe Agassiz ( December 17, 1835 – March 27, 1910 ), son of Louis Agassiz and stepson of Elizabeth Cabot Agassiz, was an American scientist and engineer.

Einhard was a dedicated servant of Charlemagne and his son Louis the Pious ; his main work is a biography of Charlemagne, the Vita Karoli Magni, " one of the most precious literary bequests of the early Middle Ages.

Lotharingia was divided for much of the later ninth century, reunited under Louis the Younger by the 880 Treaty of Ribemont and upon the death of East Frankish king Louis the Child in 911 again joined West Francia under King Charles the Simple.
