Established on 6 August 1868 as a “ Scuola Superiore di Commercio ” or business college by the economist Luigi Luzzatti, Ca ’ Foscari University of Venice was the first educational institution in Italy to offer higher education in commerce and economics.

In 1788 Luigi Cherubini settled in Paris and in 1791 composed Lodoiska, an opera that raised him to fame.

The phrase soprano maschio ( male soprano ), which could also mean falsettist, occurs in the Due Dialoghi della Musica of Luigi Dentini, an Oratorian priest, published in Rome in 1553.

Einaudi's Nuvole Bianche was featured in the film Insidious ( 2010 ) directed by James Wan, the British TV-drama This Is England 86 and in the TV-series Derek ( 2012 ) directed by and starring Ricky Gervais.

Einaudi's Una Mattina and Fly were recently featured in the biggest box office movie in French history, Intouchables ( 2011 ) directed by Olivier Nakache and Eric Toledano.

Following historian Jean-Luc Einaudi's testimony during the Papon trial in the late-1990s, left-wing police Minister Jean-Pierre Chevènement ordered the opening of parts of the archives.
