Might and Magic ( MM ) is a series of role-playing video games from New World Computing, which in 1996 became a subsidiary of The 3DO Company.

In Japan, Osamu Kitajima's 1974 psychadelic rock album Benzaiten utilized electronic equipment such as a synthesizer and drum machine, and one of the record's contributors was Haruomi Hosono, who later started the electronic music band Yellow Magic Orchestra ( as " Yellow Magic Band ") in 1977.

He began his career in 1978 as a member of the pioneering electronic music group Yellow Magic Orchestra ( YMO ), where he played keyboards and was an occasional vocalist.

After working as a session musician with Haruomi Hosono and Yukihiro Takahashi in 1977, the trio formed the internationally successful electronic music band Yellow Magic Orchestra ( YMO ) in 1978.

According to Dusted Magazine, Sakamoto's use of squelching bounce sounds and mechanical beats was later incorporated in early electro and hip hop music productions such as “ Message II ( Survival )” ( 1982 ) by Melle Mel and Duke Bootee, “ Magic ’ s Wand ” ( 1982 ) by Whodini and Thomas Dolby, Twilight 22 ’ s “ Electric Kingdom ” ( 1983 ), and Kurt Mantronik's Mantronix: The Album ( 1985 ).

Vliet was forced to quickly form a new Magic Band to complete support-tour dates, with musicians who had no experience with his music and in fact had never heard it.

Perhaps one of the best examples of pastiche in modern music is the that of George Rochberg, who used the technique in his String Quartet No. 3 of 1972 and Music for the Magic Theater.

The show's theme music also featured on two minor UK hit singles in 1991, " Summer's Magic " by Mark Summers and " Magic Style " by The Badman.

A major influence on ambient house was Japan's Yellow Magic Orchestra, sometimes cited as one of the pioneers of ambient house. During the early 1990s, the term " ambient house " became synonymous with intelligent dance music in general, but was eventually replaced by several other terms.
