Also located near this community, there still stands an artillery site ( now called the " Confederate Breast Works "), which was manned by the Confederacy to guard against Union movements along the Nolan Trace during the Civil War. Vernon Parish Map, 1895.

The historical downtown lies along County Road Five, which runs north-south parallel to Interstate 25 half a mile to the east ( Existing Land Use Map ).

Pursuant to the Culpeper land grant, the original 1669 surveyor was charged with estimating an area of 5, 000 acres ( 20 km² ) and then blazing a straight-line " back " boundary along a tree line between the winding courses of Dogue Run and Little Hunting Creek. Map of the estate, drawn by Washington More importantly, this surviving May 1741 property survey by Brooke reveals that the location of the present-day mansion house was then vacant, with the Washingtons depicted as having their Quarter alongside Little Hunting Creek ( as was shown on a similar, larger-scale Potomac River survey of 1738 ).

Again, due to errors on the Mitchell Map, Treaty of Paris reads "... through the Lake of the Woods to the most northwesternmost point thereof, and from thence on a due west course to the river Mississippi ..." With the border clarification established by the Anglo-American Convention of 1818 defining the boundary about Lake of the Woods to the Rocky Mountains, this treaty reaffirmed the border and further detailed the border by modifying the border definition to instead read as "... at the Chaudiere Falls, from which the Commissioners traced the line to the most northwestern point of the Lake of the Woods, thence, along the said line to the said most northwestern point, being in latitude 49 ° 23 ′ 55 ″ north, and in longitude 95 ° 14 ′ 38 ″ west from the Observatory at Greenwich ; thence, according to existing treaties, due south to its intersection with the 49th parallel of north latitude, and along that parallel to the Rocky Mountains ..."

After the 1890 British Ultimatum, colonial treaties with the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland ( one signed in August 1890 that defined their African borders along the Zambezi and Congo rivers and another signed on 14 October 1899, that confirmed colonial treaties of the 17th century ) stabilised the situation in Africa, ending Portuguese claims of sovereignty on the Pink Map.

The building of the Leeds tramway along York Road and Roundhay Road began to stimulate some growth, and by the time of the production on the 1906 Ordnance Survey Map, Harehills was an established community.

Copies of the " Ponderosa Map ", autographed by three of the Cartwrights, became souvenirs at the ranch for decades afterward, along with tin cups bearing their likenesses.

In the 1807 map A New Map of Upper & Lower Canada by John Cary, the lake was called Lake S < sup > t </ sup > Ann or Winnimpig, while the outflowing river as Red Stone R. Today, the Red Rock First Nation located along the Nipigon River still bears the " Red Stone " name.
