Shara Nelson, an R & B singer, featured on the orchestral " Unfinished ," and Jamaican dance hall star Horace Andy provided vocals on several other tracks, as he would throughout Massive Attack's career.

Soon, however, Massive Attack's dubby, jazzy, psychedelic, electronic textures, rooted in hip hop sampling technique but taking flight into many styles, were described by journalists as the template of the eponymous genre.

He also rapped on Massive Attack's acclaimed debut album Blue Lines ( 1991 ).

More recently in June 2008, Gong played two concerts in London: Queen Elizabeth Hall on the Southbank ( opening Massive Attack's Meltdown festival ) and the Forum, with Allen, Smyth, Hillage, Giraudy, Howlett, Taylor and Travis among the lineup.

That same year, she also featured on three songs of Massive Attack's album 100th Window before releasing her double album, She Who Dwells in the Secret Place of the Most High Shall Abide Under the Shadow of the Almighty.

Protection ( 1994 ) is Bristol-based trip-hop collective Massive Attack's second album.
