The Wild Bunch signed a record deal and evolved into Massive Attack, a core collective of 3D, Mushroom and Daddy G, with significant contributions from Tricky Kid ( soon shortened to Tricky ) and Hooper on production duties, along with a rotating cast of other vocalists.

Massive Attack, a British trip hop group which helped bring the genre to mainstream success in the 1990s.

The term trip hop was coined that year, but not in reference to anything on the Massive Attack albums.

After the success of Massive Attack, Portishead and Tricky albums in 1994 and 1995, a new generation of trip hop artists emerged with a more standardized sound.

Massive Attack released Heligoland in 2010, their first album in over half a decade.

However, there are notable exceptions ; Massive Attack has collaborated with male and female singers.

This may be partly due to the fact that several acts were inspired by post punk bands ; Tricky and Massive Attack both covered and sampled songs of Siouxsie and the Banshees and The Cure.

Eventually he met DJ Milo and hung out with a sound system called The Wild Bunch, which by 1987 evolved into Massive Attack.

Tricky showed " Aftermath " to Massive Attack, but they were not interested.

Tricky left Massive Attack to release his debut album, Maxinquaye.

Tricky failed to complete a number of lyrics for the Massive Attack album Protection and gave the band some of the lyrics he had written for Maxinquaye instead.

When Massive Attack were asked, in a radio interview on CFNY-FM in Toronto, about why the lyrics were the same, they jokingly said that it was because he was lazy.

The 2006 edition saw Eric Clapton, Placebo, Massive Attack, Roger Waters, Tracy Chapman and Santana play live in the Piazza Napoleone.

More recently, their sound has been compared, on successive albums, to that of Radiohead, Massive Attack, Keane, Crowded House, The Blue Nile and Talk Talk, although not consistently comparable sonically with any of these acts.
