Michelangelo's statue of Moses in the Church of San Pietro in Vincoli, Rome, is one of the most familiar masterpieces in the world.

The tomb, of which the central feature is Michelangelo's statue of Moses, was never finished to Michelangelo's satisfaction.

Possibly one of the most famous results of this translation was Michelangelo's addition of horns to his statue of Moses.

Leonardo da Vinci's The Last Supper has been recreated in stained glass in the Memorial Court of Honor ‘ in vibrant, glowing and indestructible colors .’ There are also a number of full-sized reproductions of other Renaissance sculptures, including Michelangelo's David and Moses.

His tomb is in the Basilica of San Pietro in Vincoli, the church containing Michelangelo's celebrated Moses.

San Pietro in Vincoli ( Saint Peter in Chains ) is a Roman Catholic titular church and minor basilica in Rome, Italy, best known for being the home of Michelangelo's statue of Moses, part of the tomb of Pope Julius II.

Michelangelo's Moses ( completed in 1515 ), while originally intended as part of a massive 47-statue, free-standing funeral monument for Pope Julius II, became the centerpiece of the Pope's funeral monument and tomb in this, the church of della Rovere family.

At some points, David betrays knowledge of the future ( he mentions Michelangelo's David, saying it is ironic that a King of the Jews should stand there uncircumcised ), and even of heaven ( Moses sits on a rock in the afterworld, working on his stutter ) -- we are left to guess whether or not this stems from his special relationship with God, as no answers are forthcoming.

As in painting, early Italian Mannerist sculpture was very largely an attempt to find an original style that would top the achievement of the High Renaissance, which in sculpture essentially meant Michelangelo, and much of the struggle to achieve this was played out in commissions to fill other places in the Piazza della Signoria in Florence, next to Michelangelo's David.

Michelangelo transformed the plan, the western end being finished to Michelangelo's design, the dome being completed after his death with some modification.

Several months after Michelangelo's birth, the family returned to Florence, where Michelangelo was raised.

Among his first acts as Pope was to cut off Michelangelo's pension, and he ordered the nudes of The Last Judgment in the Sistine Chapel be painted more modestly ( a request that Michelangelo ignored ).

Although Michelangelo's complex design for the ceiling was not quite what his patron, Pope Julius II, had in mind when he commissioned Michelangelo to paint the Twelve Apostles, the scheme displayed a consistent iconographical pattern.

His sculptures have never inspired the admiration given those of Michelangelo, specially the colossal ( 5. 05 m ) marble group of Hercules and Cacus ( completed in 1534 ) in the Piazza della Signoria, Florence, and Adam and Eve in the Museo Nazionale del Bargello, which both stand within sight of some of Michelangelo's masterworks.

He studied under Michelangelo, working on the Sistine Chapel, in the Vatican, painting the Fall of the Angels in the facade facing Michelangelo's Last Judgment.

Hupka was also the author of Michelangelo: Pieta, a collection of a hundred photographs, from various angles and with different lighting, of Michelangelo's Pieta, taken in 1964 when this sculpture was exhibited at the New York World's Fair.

He intended to collaborate with Michelangelo on an illustrated anatomy text to rival De Fabrica but this never came to pass, likely due to Michelangelo's advanced age.

His noble conception of art and his high personal ambition were evidenced in the inscription which he placed over his studio Il disegno di Michelangelo ed il colorito di Tiziano (" Michelangelo's design and Titian's color ").

Leonardo frequently raises the issue of Michelangelo's safety in the 2007 film, on one occasion asking who would keep an eye on Michelangelo while he was gone.

In the 2003 animated series, when Michelangelo is challenged to a fight in the episode ' Grudge Match ', Leonardo takes up the responsibility of being Michelangelo's trainer.

During this period, probably in early 1542, he made the acquaintance of Michelangelo, but his madrigalian settings of two of the artist's sonnets were received with indifference ; indeed, from Michelangelo's letters on the topic, he probably considered himself unmusical and incapable of appreciating Arcadelt's work.

The European collection is the most extensive in the museum and includes Michelangelo's first known painting, The Torment of Saint Anthony, the only painting by Michelangelo on exhibit in the Americas.

The church is part of a larger monastic complex that contains other important architectural works: the Old Sacristy by Brunelleschi ; the Laurentian Library by Michelangelo ; the New Sacristy based on Michelangelo's designs ; and the Medici Chapels by Matteo Nigetti.
