Owen turned out for the youth team of Mold Alexandra, playing with the under-10s at the age of eight after a local physical education teacher, Howard Roberts, persuaded the league to allow an under-age player.

Owen scored on his debut for Mold Alexandra, a 2 – 0 victory over local rivals Bagillt.

He went on to score 34 goals in 24 games in his first season with Mold Alexandra.

Mold Alexandra Football Club, www. moldalexfc. org. uk was formed in 1929, growing out of the Mission Church team of the 1920s.

The club was founded as rivals to Mold Town and the story goes that the club ’ s rare suffix was chosen at the inaugural meeting when someone picked up a copy of the Alexandra Hymn Book.

Then, during a successful 1985-86 season, Mold Alexandra won the Welsh National League ( Wrexham Area ) championship, the League Cup, the North East Wales Cup and the North Wales Coast Cup.

Thus Mold Alexandra were back where they believed they should have been twelve months earlier, rebuilding at level 3 in the pyramid.

Mold Alexandra sadly lost their programme team of both Gary Burns ( Senior ) and Howard Smith, between these two the club programme won many awards with Howards production and photograph's and Gary's match reports and photo's a gap that Mold have sadly yet to fill, Mold tried in vain to keep both but Howard opted to leave and work commitments forced Gary to leave.

Collins started his career in the Welsh leagues with Mold Alexandra and Buckley Town before joining Chester City in 1996.

He began his career in the Cymru Alliance with local sides Mold Alexandra and Buckley Town.

Lancashire won its first county championship in 1897, a productive bowling attack made up of Johnny Briggs, Willis Cuttell, Albert Hallam, and Arthur Mold took 420 wickets between them.

All companies are now associated with The Royal Welsh except for Prestatyn Platoon which is cap-badged ' REME ', Llandudno Platoon and Bangor Platoon which are cap-badged ' Royal Artillery ', Mold and Porthmadog Platoons which are cap-badges ' Queens Dragoon Guards ( QDG )', and Bradley and Benllech platoons which are cap-badged ' Welsh Guards '.

At the beginning of the 2005 / 2006 Merola was appointed as permanent manager and in the first season back in the Welsh National League Mold finished in ninth position.

At the start of this season ( 2009 – 10 ) Mold had started to assemble a stronger squad with the realisation that due to the restructuring of the Welsh Pyramid system, as many as 10 teams could be relegated.

Currently after a third of the season Mold Alex are in an encouraging 5th Place. However in 2009-2010 the club was relegated back to the Welsh National League this despite not finishing in the relegation zone, relegation was due to the re-organisation of the top tier, during the season Mold lost the talented Gary Burns to a terrible injury, Gary Burns was playing in central defence against Berriew and had his leg broken in 7 places following a terrible sliding tackle that appeared to be a player going for a player rather than the ball he was taken to Shrewsbury Hospital where he had 3 operations to get his leg sorted out, a further operation took place in March 2011.

This allowed the MS & LR and the Wrexham, Mold and Connah's Quay Railway to jointly launch the Welsh Railways Union Bill.

* Richard Wilson, a Welsh landscape painter, and one of the founder members of the Royal Academy, settled in Mold in 1781 and is buried in the grounds of St Mary's Church.

From April 1799 to December 1801 six numbers of a Welsh magazine called Trysorfa Ysprydol ( Spiritual Treasury ) were edited by Thomas Jones of Mold and himself ; in March 1809 the first number of the second volume appeared, and the twelfth and last in November 1813.

Raymond Davies Hughes ( 11 August 1923-4 April 1999 ), from Mold, north Wales, was a Welsh RAF airman who made propaganda broadcasts in Welsh for the Nazi Party during World War II.

The latest addition to the ground was achieved in 1999 after Grant Aid from Sport Lot, the Welsh Development Agency and the Football Trust together with generous local sponsorship allowed for the construction of a new stand on the Mold Road side of the ground.

The National Eisteddfod of Wales, Mold 2007

In July 2006 the stones were centre stage in the National Eisteddfod Proclamation Ceremony which formally announced Mold as the 2007 host town of the event.

The duo led Mold to the League Cup final but the club lost to Brymbo 3-2 finishing the game with nine men after Craig Roberts and Gary Burns where sent-off.

Trask constructed Master Mold while on Genosha, but it was apparently destroyed when Storm flooded the complex.

In 1146 he captured the castle of Mold and about 1150 captured Rhuddlan and encroached on the borders of Powys.

Mold survived in the national competition for three years before being relegated on the last day of the 1994-95 season.

The following season Mold finished third and missed out on promotion after losing a vital game at Cefn United which could have sealed the second place required.

A change of Manager, with the appointment of Dave Abraham, saw a change of fortune on the pitch and the season finished with Mold comfortable in mid table.

Outside the town centre new estates are being developed in several areas, including over 500 homes at the former Brymbo Steelworks site, a ribbon of development on Mold Road leading out of the town ( which includes four development companies ) and Ruthin Road ( Wrexham Western Gateway ).

Three radio stations are based in the town – commercial stations Heart North West and Wales ( serving most of North Wales, Cheshire and the Wirral ) & Heart Cymru ( serving Gwynedd and Anglesey ) are both broadcast from studios on Mold Road in Gwersyllt and community radio station Calon FM serves the county borough from studios at Glyndŵr University on Mold Road.

Mold growth found on cellulose-based substrates or materials where moisture levels are high ( 90 percent or greater ) is often Stachybotrys chartarum and is linked with sick building syndrome.

Following the Bradford City stadium fire in May 1985, legislation on ground safety at all football grounds was brought in effect, this eventually led to the closure of the Mold Road stand because it did not reach the necessary safety standards.

The Racecourse is situated on the Mold Road, which is the main road heading into Wrexham, and is opposite the residential area of Maesgwyn, next to Glyndŵr University ; who owns the freehold to the stadium and have added their name to it.

The station was known as South Flintshire Radio and its offices were found above the swimming baths on Mold Road.

The Elfed Sports Complex was built in 2005, near the Elfed High School, and includes a swimming pool, which replaced the outdated, Victorian-style baths on the Mold Road high street.

There are a number of bus routes that pass through Buckley, mostly operated by Arriva Buses Wales, which now means on most weekdays a bus to Chester or Mold is available every 10 minutes.

The Wrexham, Mold and Connah's Quay Railway ( WMCQR ) was incorporated on 7 August 1862 to build a line from Wrexham to Buckley.

The " Vale of Clwyd " line leading north to St. Asaph and Rhyl closed in 1955, leaving Denbigh on a lengthy branch running from Chester via Mold and Denbigh to Ruthin, which closed in 1962.
