* Nigel Hamilton, Monty: The Making of a General

Field Marshal Bernard Law Montgomery, 1st Viscount Montgomery of Alamein, KG, GCB, DSO, PC (; 17 November 1887 – 24 March 1976 ), nicknamed " Monty " and the " Spartan General ", was a British Army officer.

In the north British 21st Army Group commanded by Field Marshal Bernard Montgomery (" Monty "), in the middle the American 12th Army Group commanded by General Omar N. Bradley, and in the South the American 6th Army Group commanded by Lieutenant General Jacob L. Devers.

With the established and successful ABC daytime soaps veering into a new trend of youth orientation and action / adventure storylines, a format heavy influenced by Gloria Monty on General Hospital, creators Agnes Nixon and Douglas Marland set out to develop a new series that would be introduced as a traditional, classic soap opera for the 1980s.

General Manager Monty Hoppel has been named Executive of the Year with the franchise three times: in 1991, 1995, and 2002.

Launched in 1963, the first stories were mainly set at General Hospital in an unnamed midsized Eastern city ( the name of the city, Port Charles, would not be mentioned until the late 1970s under Gloria Monty ), revolving around Dr. Steve Hardy ( John Beradino ) and his friend, Nurse Jessie Brewer ( Emily McLaughlin ).

Gloria Monty of General Hospital fame was a longtime director of the series.

Pat Falken Smith replaced Marland as head writer of General Hospital in 1979 since he wanted to go slower with Luke and Laura's story than Monty had.

Although Wagner had been playing the guitar since he was 14, his initial audition for the role of " Frisco Jones " on General Hospital with producer Gloria Monty did not include any singing.

After his stint on The Doctors, he was hired by ABC Daytime in 1978 to work with Gloria Monty on their serial General Hospital.

ABC Daytime had mediocre ratings, so in order to increase them, Silverman hired Gloria Monty to produce the ailing General Hospital.

But Monty viewed the “ rape ” as a choreographed " seduction .” Under Monty's tenure, General Hospital rose to the top spot in the ratings, with Luke and Laura's 1981 wedding being the highest rated episode in daytime history ( about 30 million viewers and 13 million households ).

Monty quit General Hospital in 1987 but returned in early 1990 to increase the serial's sagging ratings.

Clifton James successfully impersonated General Bernard Montgomery (" Monty ") for intelligence purposes during World War II.

Begun circa 1997, and hosted by djMush1 ( trumpet player / multi-instrumentalist, engineer, arranger, and producer, and formerly of the Slackers and Murphy's law, and currently of The Hungry March Band, The Scorchers, & Al Paragus record label and event space of When Dance Was Nice ), Tunnel One has featured live in-studio guests such as Junior Reid, Carlton Livingston, Clive Chin, Johnny Osbourne, Danny Dread ( Stereo Mars / Volacano ), Jah Wise ( Tippatone ), Tony Screw ( Downbeat ), Junior Cat, General Trees, Professor Nuts, Al Campbell, Brigadier Jerry, Monty Alexander, Welton Irie, Ranking Trevor, Ranking Joe, and many more.

The romance tradition of Arthur is particularly evident and, according to critics, successfully handled in Robert Bresson's Lancelot du Lac ( 1974 ), Eric Rohmer's Perceval le Gallois ( 1978 ) and perhaps John Boorman's fantasy film Excalibur ( 1981 ); it is also the main source of the material utilised in the Arthurian spoof Monty Python and the Holy Grail ( 1975 ).

• Much of the material performed in the heralded first four shows ( 1976 – 1981 ) came from the rich repertoire of sketches and skits created in the preceding 15 years by Beyond The Fringe and the subsequent work of its alumni, and by Monty Python and its many stage, radio and TV antecedents.

In the 1960s, various members of the Monty Python team appeared in student productions, as subsequently did Rowan Atkinson, Stephen Fry, Hugh Laurie and Emma Thompson, the latter three with the 1981 Cambridge Footlights.

In a 1981 People Weekly interview, she called the late Gloria Monty " a wonderfully bossy little lady ".

She married Jamaican jazz pianist Monty Alexander in 1981, the marriage ending in 1984.

The inference is made that Padre Monty acquired this information from the boys ' mothers after-the-fact, given that he first meets them in the Great War.

* On an episode of The Chaser's War On Everything, Andrew Hansen and Chris Taylor do a sketch called " The Chaser's British Comedy Sketch ", filled with various Monty Python cliches, which climaxes with Andrew screaming " I'm going to do something so totally bizarre it will be imitated verbatim by comedy nerds for decades to come!
