The prophet Moroni, Mormon's son to whom he delivered the Golden Plates, records that Mormon was killed by the Lamanites ( presumably in AD 385 or shortly thereafter ).

One of the Book of Mormon's greatest figures, he is sometimes referred to as " Alma the Elder " to avoid confusion with his son, also named Alma, who is often called " Alma the Younger.

This abridgement, with additions by Mormon's son, Moroni, was part of the set of gold plates Moroni delivered to Joseph Smith.

Before Mormon's death in battle, he passed the golden plates to Moroni.

Smith stated that he believed that the discovery of ancient Maya ruins on the Yucatán Peninsula in the late 1830s offered evidence to the Book of Mormon's authenticity.

Smith seems to have identified the angel as " Nephi ", which is the name of the Book of Mormon's first narrator.

He became one of the Three Witnesses of the Book of Mormon's golden plates, one of the first Latter Day Saint apostles, and the Second Elder of the church.

The books within the Book of Mormon from The Words of Mormon to Fourth Nephi, are taken from Mormon's abridgment of the large plates.

Mormon scholar and apologist Hugh Nibley discussed the Book of Mormon's depiction of Blacks in his writings:

Divisions of the book relating to Mormon's personal history are the Words of Mormon and the first seven chapters of the larger book.

According to Mormon's record in the Book of Mormon, he was born in about AD 311 to a father whose name was also Mormon.

According to Lamb, the prophet Mormon was named after the Land of Mormon, which thus became the font from which the Book of Mormon's title sprang.

Their immortality is referred to later by Mormon, who lived about four hundred years after the three Nephites in the Book of Mormon's timeline.

According to the Book of Mormon, Moroni was the son of Mormon, the prophet for whom the Book of Mormon is ostensibly named.

According to the text, the first seven chapters were written by the prophet Mormon and the last two by his son Moroni.

In 2005 and 2007 studies, a geneticist with the Sorenson Molecular Genealogy Foundation showed " with 99. 9 percent accuracy " that five of these individuals were in fact not Smith descendants: Mosiah Hancock ( son of Clarissa Reed Hancock ), Oliver Buell ( son of Prescindia Huntington Buell ), Moroni Llewellyn Pratt ( son of Mary Ann Frost Pratt ), Zebulon Jacobs ( son of Zina Diantha Huntington Jacobs Smith ), and Orrison Smith ( son of Fanny Alger ).

" Mormon then hid all of the records of his people in the hill, except for the plates that he was currently writing on, which he gave to his son Moroni.

Mormon then records his mourning for his people and a last message to those who will read his record later, then again turns the unburied records over to his son Moroni.

The son of an architect, Andrea Moroni, he trained under Alessandro Bonvicino " Il Moretto " in Brescia, where he was the main studio assistant in the 1540s, and worked in Trent, Bergamo and his home town of Albino, near Bergamo, where he was born and died.

The book says that Mormon eventually passed all of the records on to his son Moroni.

Around 1877, John Willard Young, a son of the Mormon leader Brigham Young, claimed the area around Leroux Springs, and he built Fort Moroni, a log stockade, to house railroad tie-cutters for the Atlantic & Pacific Railroad, which was then being built across northern Arizona.

Mormon did not abridge the small plates of Nephi but he did include them in the records he gave to his son Moroni ().

Moroni tells an example of a secret combination in the story of a son named Jared who rebels against his father Omer, who is Jaredite king of the land.

Thus, on the death of Geoffrey the Handsome ( 7 September 1151 ), his son Henry found himself heir to a great empire, strong and consolidated, to which his marriage with Eleanor of Aquitaine ( May 1152 ) further added Aquitaine.

In May 1900, Milford A. Thorp, a son of F. M. Thorp, added Thorp's Addition, incorporating into the town site the land he had purchased in 1885 from James McMurray.
