The narrative opens with Mr Bingley, a wealthy, charming and social young bachelor, moving into Netherfield Park in the neighbourhood of the Bennet family.

Mr Bingley is soon well received, while his friend Mr Darcy makes a less favorable first impression by appearing proud and condescending at a ball that they attend ( this is partly explained in that he detests dancing and is not much for light conversation ).

Mr Bingley singles out Elizabeth's elder sister, Jane, for particular attention, and it soon becomes apparent that they have formed an attachment to each other.

At a ball given by Mr Bingley at Netherfield, Mr Darcy becomes aware of a general expectation that Mr Bingley and Jane will marry, and the Bennet family, with the exception of Jane and Elizabeth, make a public display of poor manners and decorum.

Elizabeth, however, has just learned of Darcy's role in separating Mr Bingley from Jane from his cousin Colonel Fitzwilliam.

Regarding Mr Bingley and Jane, Darcy claimed he had observed no reciprocal interest in Jane for Bingley.

Set in England in the early 19th century, Pride and Prejudice tells the story of Mr. and Mrs. Bennet's ( Benjamin Whitrow and Alison Steadman ) five unmarried daughters ( Susannah Harker, Jennifer Ehle, Lucy Briers, Polly Maberly, Julia Sawalha ) after the rich and eligible Mr. Bingley ( Crispin Bonham-Carter ) and his status-conscious friend, Mr. Darcy, have moved into their neighbourhood.

Episode 1 – Mr. Charles Bingley, a rich man from the north of England, settles down at Netherfield estate near Meryton village in Hertfordshire for the summer.

Bingley takes an immediate liking to Jane at a local country-dance, while his best friend Mr. Darcy, rumoured to be twice as rich, refuses to stand up with anyone including Elizabeth.

The producers found Crispin Bonham-Carter to have the best physical contrast to Firth's Darcy and gave him his first major television role as the good-natured and wealthy Mr. Charles Bingley.

Anna Chancellor of Four Weddings and a Funeral fame played Mr. Bingley's sister Caroline Bingley ( of interest to Austen fans Anna Chancellor is also Jane Austen's niece by eight generations ).

The adaptation comically exaggerates the characters of Mrs. Bennet, Miss Bingley and Mr. Collins, even showing Mrs. Bennet on the verge of hysteria in many of the early scenes.

Robert Livingston – a congressman from Louisiana ... abruptly retired after learning that Mr Flynt was about to reveal that he had also had an affair.

Meanwhile, after a startlingly brief love affair ( of which Molly knows nothing ), Mr Gibson abruptly decides to remarry, less from his own inclination than from a perceived duty to provide Molly with a mother to guide her.

However, he marries a woman named Frances and returns three years later, after Mr. Earnshaw dies.

With Farnsworth's money to smooth the way, Corkle trains him and arranges a bout with the current heavyweight champion, but Mr. Jordan returns to warn Joe that, while he is destined to be the new champion, it cannot happen that way.

Mr. Feeny decides to retire at the end of the school year and move to Wyoming-however, he soon returns from retirement and goes back to teaching.

Mr. Feeny returns to take some classes, but then is offered a teaching job at the university.

Shortly, Mr. Ross returns to the diner alone and tells the cook that the bridge wasn't safe at all and that it collapsed, killing all the occupants of both the bus and the police car.

With the Stanhopes ' return to Italy, life in the Cathedral Close returns to its previous quiet and settled ways and Mr Harding continues his life of gentleness and music.

It works, and Mr. Krupp returns to his angry self, resolving to give the video to the football team after all.

With hope of redeeming himself he returns to Yorkshire to the scene of crime and is befriended by Mr. Candy's assistant, Mr. Ezra Jennings.

The next day, Mr. Eddy returns with his beautiful mistress, Alice Wakefield ( Arquette in a dual role ), and his Cadillac for Pete to repair.

Before he returns to Africa, he confides his feelings to Mr Gibson, who heartily gives his blessing to the union.

Mr. Burns ' long lost son Larry returns and although they at first get along well, Mr. Burns begins to see that his son has turned out to be an oaf.

As he returns to his dormitory, he notices Mr Crouch searching Snape's office, but is unable to investigate.

Harry runs to get Dumbledore while Krum waits with Crouch ; when Harry returns, Krum has been stunned and Mr Crouch gone.

She returns home to her parents, Mr and Mrs Bunting, and her policeman sweetheart, Joe ( Malcolm Keen ), who have been reading the details of the latest Avenger crime in the day's paper.

In Series 3, Mr. Birling returns, and this time a full-size bottle of Talisker goes missing.
