My Ruin are a Los Angeles-based hard rock / stoner metal band composed of husband and wife duo Tairrie B ( former vocalist of Tura Satana ( band ) and solo rapper ) and guitarist and sole songwriter Mick Murphy.

In a Metal Hammer Magazine album review praising the bands Ghosts and Good Stories album, journalist Dom Lawson stated of the band ; “ The divine Ms. B comes roaring back under the radar and proudly grinding against the grain, My Ruin have mutated into something truly monstrous in recent years, as the chemistry between Tairrie B and Mick Murphy has evolved and sprouted wicked wings .”

My Ruin are a DIY band who have control over every aspect their output.

Through the years, the couple have managed to develop and carve out their own unique sound within My Ruin.

On more recent recordings, they have managed to find a balance between, the southern laced stylings of Mick's Neanderthal side project and the spoken word dirges of couples The LVRS side project, combined with the hardcore grit of classic My Ruin.

In 2011, My Ruin made the decision to release their 7th studio album titled A Southern Revelation as a free download direct to the fans.

Recording for Speak and Destroy ( My Ruin album ) started in February 1999.

At the end of Terror, Tairrie states: “ No one is going to ruin me, if I have to I will ruin myself and it will be My Ruin .” This has served as a personal mantra for Tairrie through the years regarding the band.

When it came to the final line-up of the band, the first incarnation of My Ruin was as follows ;

Palomino would become a recurring member of My Ruin and he joined the live band once again for their Tell Your God Tour in 2008 whilst promoting the bands fifth studio album ; Throat Full of Heart.

In 2000, the band would take on a new line-up, which saw the addition of former Movement vocalist / guitarist and longtime My Ruin guitarist / composer Mick Murphy.

In an interview many years later, Tairrie said ; “ I released my first album under the name My Ruin and it was called " Speak and Destroy " on Snapper Music back in 1999.

Meghan Mattox would carry on playing bass and contributed to the songwriting process, but the rest of the band including Melanie Makaiwi would no longer be part of the My Ruin project.

The “ Prayer Under Pressure …” era saw My Ruin become a fully realized band and unit of contributing members, rather than being just Tairrie ’ s solo project.

While the band were busy releasing A Prayer Under Pressure Of Violent Anguish in the UK and Europe via Snapper Music, Speak and Destroy ( My Ruin album ) was simultaneously released in the US via Spitfire Records.

Mick and Tairrie would occasionally duet on a couple of songs through the vast My Ruin back catalogue.
