Rules-wise, the game draws heavily from the second edition of Warhammer 40, 000, and the ruleset is commonly considered to be better-suited for the type of skirmish games Necromunda encourages.

However, the warriors in Mordheim tend to have far more protections than those in Necromunda, therefore granting Mordheimers a much higher survival rate.

Necromunda also stands out from most other games by Games Workshop by having a more 3 dimensional table layout, with buildings generally having multiple floors, interconnecting walkways and bridges.

The Enforcers are the chief source of law enforcement in the underhive of Necromunda.
