In the song The Revolution Will Not Be Televised, singer Gil Scott-Heron refers to " Green Acres, Beverly Hillbillies, and Hooterville Junction ," the last presumably a deliberate corruption of Petticoat Junction ; the song foretells those series ' cancellations in the rural purge, stating that the shows " will no longer be so damned relevant.

The cast of another CBS show, The Beverly Hillbillies, had some connection with the characters in Petticoat Junction, when Cousin Pearl contacted Granny to assist with Betty Jo Bradley's baby ; the Clampetts themselves hailed from Bug Tussle, Arkansas.

During his career, Inn's animals won 40 Patsy Awards, three of them multiple times: Orangey the cat won three times, for Rhubarb, The Incredible Shrinking Man, and Breakfast at Tiffany's ; Arnold the Pig won for three successive years on Green Acres from 1966 – 1968 ; and Higgins ( dog ) ( then playing " Dog " on Petticoat Junction ), won a Patsy in 1962.

Arnold's trainer, Frank Inn, was the proud owner of over 40 PATSY awards, thanks to his work with Orangey, the cat from Rhubarb ( 1951 ) and Breakfast at Tiffany's ( 1961 ); Higgins, the dog ( who played the lead in the Benji movies and " Dog " on Petticoat Junction ); Cleo the Basset Hound ; and Lassie, and Tramp the dog from My Three Sons to name a few.

Like its predecessor, WOFL was a typical independent station, carrying cartoons such as Bugs Bunny, Tom and Jerry, Scooby Doo, Woody Woodpecker, and the Flintstones ; sitcoms such as Bewitched, I Dream Of Jeannie, Leave It To Beaver, I Love Lucy, Green Acres, Petticoat Junction, Andy Griffith, and, by 1984, Alice, the Jeffersons, Welcome Back Kotter, and Barney Miller.
