The Salt Lake Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints ( LDS ) contains a Holy of Holies wherein the Church's President — acting as the Presiding High Priest — enters to fulfill the relationship between the High Priest of Israel and God in accordance with the LDS interpretation of the Book of Exodus () and Mormon religious texts.

After traveling from Ohio to Kanesville ( Council Bluffs ), Cowdery met in the Kanesville Tabernacle meeting, called to sustain Brigham Young as the new President of the Church ; Cowdery bore his testimony with a conviction to the truthfulness of everything that had happened spiritually with Joseph Smith and the Book of Mormon.

These events eventually culminated in the Utah War wherein President Buchanan sent the U. S. Army to the Utah Territory in order to stop a reported Mormon insurrection.
