Prost and ahead
In the next round in Europe, Hill again finished second behind Senna and ahead of a lapped Prost.
Berger was leading the final race of the season at Adelaide ahead of Prost and Senna before he clashed with former Ferrari driver René Arnoux in the Ligier while trying to lap the Frenchman.

Prost and Piquet
During the 1980s and early 1990s, Prost formed a fierce rivalry with mainly Ayrton Senna, but also Nelson Piquet and Nigel Mansell.
Hill became the fourth driver in nine years to win the World Drivers ' Championship and not drive for Williams the following season following in the footsteps of Nelson Piquet ( WDC-drove for Lotus ), Nigel Mansell ( WDC-1993 competed in the US based Champ Car World Series instead of F1 ) and Alain Prost ( 1993 WDC-Retired ).
With three victories, at the Canadian, German, and Dutch Grands Prix, he was in contention for the world title for much of the season, but was left behind by his rivals Prost and Nelson Piquet in the championship run in.
Prost inherited a comfortable lead from de Angelis with Piquet promoted to 3rd.

Lauda's teammate Alain Prost captured pole position, averaging 155. 478 mph ( 250. 219 km / h ), followed by Nigel Mansell, Lauda, Keke Rosberg and Nelson Piquet.
Prost won by almost 52 seconds over the Brazilian duo Nelson Piquet ( Brabham BT54 ) and Ayrton Senna ( Lotus 97T ).
Nelson Piquet was 4th on the grid in his Brabham-BMW, World Champion elect Alain Prost was 5th in his McLaren-TAG Porsche, with the Ferrari of 1985 World Championship runner up Michele Alboreto rounding out the top six qualifiers.
The drivers in contention for the title were ; Nigel Mansell, Nelson Piquet, both of whom were racing for the Williams-Honda team, and McLaren's Alain Prost.
Following the tyre failures of Rosberg and Mansell, the Williams team called Piquet in for a pre-cautionary stop and he came out of the pits 15 seconds behind Prost.
Piquet made a late charge to close the gap to 4. 2 seconds but Prost took victory to win his second of four titles.
The leader of the championship prior to the race was British driver Nigel Mansell ; six points behind him in second was Alain Prost, who was looking to defend his title and one point behind Prost was Mansell's teammate at Williams, Nelson Piquet.
To win the championship Mansell needed either third position or higher, or for both Prost and Piquet to finish in second place or lower.
For Prost or Piquet to win the championship, they would have to win the race, and see Mansell finish in fourth position or lower.
