Ministry found mainstream success in the early 1990s with its most successful album Psalm 69: The Way to Succeed and the Way to Suck Eggs ( 1992 ) and touring as part of the Lollapalooza festival.

As the single would have indicated, the sound of the following LP, Psalm 69: The Way to Succeed and the Way to Suck Eggs ( 1992 ), was the most metal-oriented Ministry had put to record at that point, the focal point of the sound shifting almost entirely from synths to Jourgensen's and new members Mike Scaccia's and Louis Svitek's electric guitars.

During 2000-2002, record-company ( Warner Bros. Records ) disputes resulted in the planned albums Live Psalm 69, Sphinctour and ClittourUS on Ipecac Recordings being canceled ( although its contents had been compiled ), resulting instead in Sphinctour appearing on Sanctuary Records.

The sound was strongly heavy metal laden with voice effects, and matched the ferocity of Psalm 69 ( though it featured an almost-pop cover of Magazine's " The Light Pours Out Of Me ").

Psalm 69: The Way to Succeed and the Way to Suck Eggs is the common title for the fifth studio album by industrial metal band Ministry, released in 1992 on Sire Records.

The actual title of the album is ΚΕΦΑΛΗΞΘ ( a Greek word meaning " head ", and the number 69 in Greek numerals ), though Psalm 69 is used for simplicity's sake.

Psalm 69 also marked Ministry's first release with guitarist Mike Scaccia, who had joined the band in 1989.

Vespers is composed around several Biblical texts that are traditionally used as part of the liturgy for several Marian feasts in the Roman Catholic church: the introductory Deus in adjutorium ( Psalm 69 ), five Psalm settings, sacred motets ( called “ concerti ”) between the Psalms, a traditional Hymn, a setting of the Magnificat text and the concluding Benedicamus Domino.

The film's music has been imitated by various artists, including Ministry in the track " Psalm 69 " from their album Psalm 69: The Way to Succeed and the Way to Suck Eggs, Cage Kennylz on " Weather People " and Atmosphere on " Bird Sings Why the Caged I Know ".

It first became a commercial force in 1992 when Nine Inch Nails ' Broken and Ministry's Psalm 69 went platinum in America, though the latter took three years to reach that status.

" Skinny Puppy frontman Nivek Ogre dismissed Nine Inch Nails as " cock rock ", although admitting an appreciation for Ministry's Psalm 69.

He also deals with contemporary issues in his masterpiece of this period, Psalm 69 ( 1949 – 60 ).

" Walrus " is also track 69 which is a reference to their previous album Psalm 69: The Way to Succeed and the Way to Suck Eggs.

He wrote a Te Deum, settings of five Psalms ( including Psalm 150 in the 1890s ), about forty motets ( among them three settings of both Christus factus est pro nobis and Ave Maria ), and at least seven Masses.

In 1583 De Monte sent Byrd his setting of verses 1 – 4 of Psalm 136 ( Super flumina Babylonis ), including the pointed question ’ How shall we sing the Lord's song in a strange land ?’ Byrd replied the following year with a setting of the defiant continuation, set, like de Monte's piece, in eight parts and incorporating a three-part canon by inversion.
