Python's developers strive to avoid premature optimization, and moreover, reject patches to non-critical parts of CPython which would offer a marginal increase in speed at the cost of clarity.

In particular Q5, which first aired on 24 March 1969, and with its surreal bent and almost stream-of-consciousness format is seen by many as a forerunner to Monty Python's Flying Circus, which debuted some months later.

In issue # 72 of Space Gamer, Bill Cassel presented an unofficial expansion entitled " The Pythonated Illuminati ", which added cards based on the television series Monty Python's Flying Circus.
