BeOS R5 is considered the last official version, but BeOS R5. 1 " Dano ", which was under development before Be's sale to Palm and included the BeOS Networking Environment ( BONE ) networking stack, was leaked to the public shortly after the company's demise.

Known as T2 R5 NWP, or Township 2, Range 4, North of the Waldo Patent, it was incorporated on February 16, 1811 as New Charlestown, to distinguish it from Charlestown when Massachusetts included the province of Maine.

The R5 album was not published until 1986 ; its non-existence until then had been a mystery.

R5 was the 4th major release of BeOS for a public audience, and the 6th since it left developer-only stages.

It also settled its outstanding R5, 2 million debt with the Absa Group Limited, in preparation for dissolution.

This new R5 class has deviated away from the fundamentals of Group R. Many privateers have expressed their concerns about how the cars and components can only be supplied by the manufacturer at highly inflated prices.

Starting R5, IP bearers can be used over Ethernet instead.

A new commercial venture, ZETA, is an operating system that appears to be based on the Dano codebase, and has been accepted by some BeOS users as a successor to R5.

Following the failure of BeIA, Be's Internet Appliance venture, the company ceased operations, and R5 was the last official release.

A widely leaked version of BeOS that had been seeded to developers, codenamed Dano, carried many new features, and a build ID indicating it was BeOS R5. 1. 0.

The updater for BONE Alpha 7 increases the system version number to R5. 04.
