For example, a November 4, 2002 article by Sherrie Gossett in the right-wing WorldNetDaily makes many of the same criticisms of ANSWER, IAC, Workers World, NION, and the RCP as the Albert / Shalom article quoted above ; most of the sources she cites for criticism of NION and ANSWER come from within the left.

When the RCP split in 1977 this struggle was reflected in the RSB ; a significant section of the Revolutionary Student Brigade left the RCP, taking the RSB name with them.

RIM was founded in 1984 and included such notable organizations as the Communist Party of Peru ( PCP ), also known as " Sendero Luminoso " or " Shining Path ," the then Communist Party of Nepal ( Maoist ), now known as the Unified Communist Party of Nepal ( Maoist ) UCPN ( M ), and the Revolutionary Communist Party USA ( RCP ( USA )).

For most purposes Gluckstein was a supporter of the leadership of the RCP around Jock Haston, and as such he was involved with the discussions concerning the nature of those states dominated by Russia and the Communist parties initiated by a faction within the RCP.

This debate was linked to other discussions on the nationalised industries in Britain and the increasingly critical stance of Haston and the RCP as to the leadership of the Fourth International with regard to Eastern Europe and Yugoslavia in particular.

Supporting Irish republicanism was central to the work of the RCP.

Others have charged that the RCP has created a cult of personality around Avakian, with dissenting voices driven from the organization.

The RCP has had an often stormy relationship with the broader political Left.

Because the RCP is highly critical of the Soviet Union, which it views as state capitalist and social-imperialist, the RCP has often traded polemical criticisms with the pro-Soviet CPUSA, as well as Trotskyist groups that have rejected the view of the Soviet bloc as state capitalists to be decried in favor of " deformed workers states " to be defended.

According to Max Elbaum's Revolution in the Air they contrasted themselves with other self-identified Marxist-Leninst parties in the 1980s who advocated working within or alongside Jesse Jackson's Rainbow Coalition, with the RCP summarizing their position in the slogan, " The right to vote has been won ... Now we need the political awareness and sophistication not to use it.

The RCP holds that its line against electoral politics has been vindicated by the dissolution of several of the Marxist-Leninist groups in the Jackson Campaigns, and others ' perceived shifts of line away from open advocacy of revolution with " ultra-leftism.

The RCP rejects these criticisms, its partisans pointing out that while it has shared stages with Democratic Party office-holders, it has never once, anywhere, endorsed Democratic Party candidates in elections or bourgeois democracy in general.

Andy Rowell and Bob Burton along with Jonathan Matthews of the Norfolk Genetic Information Network criticised the RCP for championing genetic engineering.

In the election of 1987, RCP members stood as the Red Front and talked arguing that working people needed to break with the Labour Party, but no Red Front candidates retained their general election deposits ( currently set at £ 500 ).

" This basic premise, that communism is a science, has historically been a major point of contention with liberal thinkers such as Karl Popper, other communists in the international community, and for a long time, even within the RCP.

This led to a major split in the RCP with a significant minority who supported the new leaders in China leaving the Party.

In January 1979 a demonstration was held in Washington DC on the occasion of Chinese leader Deng Xiaoping's meeting with Jimmy Carter to expose what the RCP and Avakian viewed as Deng's " reversal " of the revolution in China.
