Raëlism, or the Raëlian Church, is a UFO religion that was founded in 1974 by Claude Vorilhon, now known as Raël.

The organisation's head, Raël ( former auto racer Claude Vorilhon ), founded the Movement in 1973 at the instigation of one of the aliens and he declared that the world should be governed in the form of a " money-less society, governed by a World College of Geniuses ".

Following what he said was an extraterrestrial encounter in December 1973, he formed the Raëlian Movement and changed his name to Raël ( allegedly meaning " messenger of the elohim ").

One idea offered by Raël in Geniocracy is to have specialists such as psychologists, neurologists, ethnologists, etc., perfect or choose among existing ones, a series of tests that would define each person's level of intelligence.

Because of the controversies surrounding geniocracy, Raël presents the idea as a classic utopia or provocative ideal and not necessarily a model that humanity will follow.
