In the 1980s Orthodox Rabbi Norman Lamm, Rosh Yeshiva of Yeshiva University, along with other American and Israeli Orthodox rabbis, worked with Conservative and Reform rabbis to come up with solution to the " Who is a Jew?

" again arose in the State of Israel, and Orthodox leaders such as Rabbi Norman Lamm publicly backed the Neeman commission, a group of Orthodox, Conservative and Reform rabbis working to develop joint programs for conversion to Judaism.

Rabbi Dr. Norman Lamm, former chancellor of Yeshiva University, has also written on this subject, asserting that if the existence of extraterrestrial life should be confirmed, religious scholars must revise previous assumptions to the contrary.

Rabbi Lamm wanted this to be only the beginning of a solution to Jewish disunity.

and the seminary's former Chancellor, Rabbi Ismar Schorsch, complained of the movement's " erosion of fidelity to Halacha ... brings close to Reform Judaism.

The Conservative movement, however, has clashed with Orthodoxy over its refusal to recognize the Conservative and Reform movements as legitimate, and in February 1997 Rabbi Ismar Schorsch, the Chancellor of the Jewish Theological Seminary, claimed that Orthodox organizations in Israel politically discriminate against non-Orthodox Jews, and called on Reform and Conservative Jews, as well as the Jewish Federations throughout the United States, to stop funding Orthodox organizations and institutions that disagree with the Conservative view of pluralism.

Although nearing ordination at the Yeshiva University's Rabbi Isaac Elchanan Theological Seminary, he transferred to the Jewish Theological Seminary of America ( JTSA ), where he was ordained in 1934 and received the advanced Jewish legal degree of Hattarat Hora ’ ah under the great talmudic scholar Rabbi Professor Louis Ginzberg.

Rabbi Moshe Tendler, a leading rabbi at Yeshiva University, stated " It is very sad that an individual who attended our yeshiva sunk to the depths of what we consider a depraved society ,"

These four are all roshei yeshiva ( i. e., rabbinic leaders ) at the Rabbi Isaac Elchanan Theological Seminary at Yeshiva University, the largest and most influential Modern Orthodox rabbinic program in America.

Although Rabbi Lipschutz has faced some controversy in certain Hasidic circles, he was greatly respected by such sages as Rabbi Akiva Eiger, whom he frequently cites, and is widely accepted in the Yeshiva world.

In 1915 Yeshiva College ( later Yeshiva University ) and its Rabbi Isaac Elchanan Theological Seminary was established in New York, New York for training in an Orthodox milieu.

Rabbi Aryeh Strikovski ( Machanaim Yeshiva and Pardes Institute ) worked in the 1990s with Rabbi Avraham Shapira ( then a co-Chief rabbi of Israel ) to initiate the program for training Orthodox women as halakhic Toanot (" advocates ") in rabbinic courts.
