In January 2004 McShane was ranked second in the world among junior ( under-21 ) players behind Teimour Radjabov.

Radjabov was born in Baku, as were many other grandmasters, for example Garry Kasparov, Vugar Gashimov, Vladimir Akopian, Emil Sutovsky, Rauf Mamedov and Eltaj Safarli

Radjabov was also to play the Morelia / Linares Tournament 2007, but due to a robbery of some of his belongings in Mexico, he withdrew from the tournament.

In his Candidates quarter final in Kazan Radjabov was eliminated by Vladimir Kramnik in blitz tiebreak, after a controversial incident of chess clock malfunction.

At the 2003 Linares chess tournament, Radjabov, who was 15 years and 11 months at the time, famously defeated Kasparov with the black pieces, thus becoming the youngest player ever to defeat the world's number one player in tournament play.

In an interview in 2005 Radjabov meant that his not being invited to top tournaments was influenced by Kasparov.

From June 11 – 21, he made his debut at the Bazna Kings Tournament in Romania in a field including Carlsen, world No. 5 Vassily Ivanchuk, world No. 6 Sergey Karjakin, world No. 13 Teimour Radjabov and Liviu-Dieter Nisipeanu ; the tournament was a Category XXI event with an average ELO of 2760, making it the third strongest tournament in history ; Nakamura finished 4½ / 10 ; the tournament was won by Carlsen on tiebreak over Karjakin.

Radjabov-Adams game three was a Scotch Opening in which Radjabov appeared to build up a powerful attack.

The move was also played by David Bronstein and by Teimour Radjabov.

In the 2012 World Blitz Championship, 1. a4 was employed as a little joke by Magnus Carlsen against Teimour Radjabov, who during the blitz championship two years earlier had told him " Everyone is getting tired.

The margin of victory was a little flattering to Bu with Radjabov missing a number of good chances on the first day and then having a bit of a disaster on day two losing both games.

It won a 2006 match with Teimour Radjabov.

In January 2007, Topalov finished in joint first place ( ahead of Kramnik, who finished 4th ) at the Category 19 Corus Chess Tournament along with Levon Aronian and Teimour Radjabov.

Being the youngest of the participants Radjabov won the European Under 18 Championship, with the six years older Evgeny Postny in second place.

In 2003 Radjabov defeated Garry Kasparov, Viswanathan Anand, and Ruslan Ponomariov with the black pieces, making him the first player to have beaten three former and reigning FIDE World Chess Champions with black in one year.

On February 22nd Radjabov defeated FIDE World Champion Veselin Topalov ( 2801 ) with the black pieces and subsequently finished second in Linares / Morelia after scoring + 4-2 = 8 in the tournament.

In January Radjabov shared first place at the Category 19 Corus Chess Tournament in Wijk aan Zee with Veselin Topalov and Levon Aronian, ahead of Kramnik and Anand.

In Wijk aan Zee Radjabov shared second place with Aronian and Sergei Movsesian, 0. 5 behind winner Sergey Karjakin.

In Bazna the following month Radjabov shared second place with Boris Gelfand after beating him in both their individual games ( Carlsen won the tournament ).

Radjabov finished in second place also in the World Blitz Championship, with 24 / 38.

Radjabov got married October 8th after a spectacular performance rating of 3019 in the European Chess Cup Championships playing first board for the team SOCAR, with the team coming second overall.

Radjabov scored + 3-0 = 10 and tied for second place with Magnus Carlsen and Fabiano Caruana, a point behind winner Levon Aronian.

Nakamura finished with 21½ / 38 for fifth place behind Gelfand, Carlsen, Teimour Radjabov and champion Aronian.

Radjabov lost to Dominguez after a complicated opening after which white emerged with three connected passed pawns for a bishop, and number four seed Grischuk lost to Kasimdzhanov in an Exchange Ruy Lopez.

Radjabov went for the Catalan Opening, and Adams introduced a new idea in the position shown with 9 ... Nb6 10.

This left Radjabov needing a win in game four to take the match to tie-breaks, a difficult feat when playing black against a 2700 + rated player: from the beginning of 2002 to this game, Adams had lost only one game with white in a normal time control game ( against Alexei Shirov at Reykjavik, 2003 ).

In 2007, on a question on how he felt about playing against the Armenian team, an Azerbaijani news agency quoted Radjabov as saying: " We all have feelings of hate towards them.

Top players who have used this variation include Vladimir Kramnik, Veselin Topalov, Teimour Radjabov, Boris Gelfand, Michael Adams and Alexander Khalifman, among many others.

Radjabov had beaten Bu in the two game final of a Cadet's event held earlier in the year on the Kasparovchess. com site.

Adams came closest to claiming a world title at the 2004 FIDE Championship, when he reached the final, winning matches against Hussein Asabri, Karen Asrian, Hichem Hamdouchi, Hikaru Nakamura, Vladimir Akopian and Teimour Radjabov.

Teimour Radjabov ( also spelled Teymur Rajabov ; ; born 12 March 1987 in Baku, Azerbaijan ) is a leading Azerbaijani chess player.

On the July 2012 FIDE list Radjabov has an Elo rating of 2788, and is ranked 4th in the world.

Radjabov earned the title of Grandmaster in March 2001 at the age of 14, making him the second-youngest grandmaster in history at the time.

Radjabov is the youngest player ever to make the FIDE Top 100 Players list.

Radjabov won Dos Hermanas in April, ahead of among others Dreev and Azmaiparashvili.

In November Radjabov won the strong Cap d ' Agde rapid tournament.

In January Radjabov won the ACP Rapid Cup in Odessa after beating Grischuk in the final 2-5-1. 5.

In October Radjabov led the Azerbaijani team to victory at the European Team Chess Championship in Novi Sad.

In May Radjabov shared second place in Astrakhan, securing second place in the FIDE Grand Prix 2008 – 2010, thereby qualifying for the Candidates tournament for the World Chess Championship 2012.
