Regional transport in Belgium is operated by regional companies: De Lijn in Flanders operates the Kusttram and the Antwerp pre-metro as well as a bus network, TEC in Wallonia operates the Charleroi pre-metro as well as a bus network and MIVB / STIB in the Brussels Capital-Region operates the Brussels metro as well as the Brussels tram and bus network.

The London Regional Transport Act contained provision for setting up subsidiary companies to run the Underground and bus services and in 1985 London Underground Limited ( LUL ), a wholly owned subsidiary of London Regional Transport, was set up to manage the tube network.

Regional and local public transport is by bus, and in some cities by metro and tram.

Regional routes are classified as gosok bus ( 고속버스, " high speed " express bus ) or sioe bus ( 시외버스, " suburban " intercity bus ) with gosok buses operating over the longer distances and making the fewest ( if any ) stops en route.

Local bus service is provided by the Toledo Area Regional Transit Authority ; commonly shortened to TARTA.

Because of the dense, mixed-use character of the development along Colfax Avenue, the Regional Transportation District bus route 15-East Colfax has the highest ridership in the RTD system.

The bus service is operated by several different private companies, regulated by the Regional Ministry of Transport, which controls fares and routes.

San Joaquin Regional Transit District provides city bus service within Stockton.

The Regional Bus and Rail Company of Canton Ticino provides the urban and suburban bus network of Locarno, operates the cable cars between Verdasio and Rasa, and between Intragna – Pila – Costa on behalf of the owning companies, and, together with an Italian company, the Centovalli and Vigezzina Railway which connects the Gotthard trans-Alpine rail route at Locarno with the Simplon trans-Alpine route.

Beginning in 2006, the Piedmont Authority for Regional Transportation ( PART ) began offering limited bus service between Boone, North Carolina and Greensboro, North Carolina as part of its US 421 Mountaineer Express.

AMTRAK serves High Point and Winston-Salem in the nearby Piedmont area, and Piedmont Authority for Regional Transportation ( PART ) bus provides connecting shuttle service to Watauga County.

A bus station is located adjacent to Stratford Regional with London Buses and National Express coach routes towards central, northeast London and Stansted Airport.

The New Orleans Regional Transit Authority ( RTA or NORTA as it is called by some residents ) is a body established by the Louisiana State Legislature in 1979 ; since 1983 it has controlled bus and streetcar service in the City of New Orleans.

Kern Regional Transit provides bus service Mondays through Saturdays during the summer months to Lebec, Gorman, Lake of the Woods, Pinon Pines, and Pine Mountain Club.

Following a pre-1999 election commitment to consider the feasibility of introducing fast rail services to regional centres, in 2000 the government approved funding for the Regional Fast Rail project, upgrading rail lines between Melbourne and Ballarat, Bendigo, Geelong and Traralgon.

Congress passed the Regional Rail Reorganization Act of 1973 ( the " 3R Act ") to salvage viable freight operations from Penn Central and other failing rail lines in the northeast, mid-Atlantic and midwestern regions, through the creation of ConRail.

A large-scale non-electric project of four regional lines ( Regional Fast Rail ) is operational in Victoria.

Sun City Center is served primarily by two Hillsborough Area Regional Transit bus lines:

The Pennsylvania Northeast Regional Rail Authority is a bi-county creation of both Lackawanna County and Monroe County to oversee the use of common rail freight lines in northeastern Pennsylvania, including one formerly owned by Conrail running from Scranton, through East Stroudsburg towards New Jersey, and the New York City market.

The PC was organized on similar lines to the army, and consisted of a General Staff located at its General Headquarters at Camp Crame, Manila, and 12 Regional Commands ( under a Regional Director ) consisting of 104 Provincial Commands ( under a Provincial Commander ); these controlled the 450 PC Companies which performed all the day-to-day military police work.

The town is served by the Peter Pan and Greyhound bus lines and is the hub of the Franklin Regional Transit Authority ( FRTA ), whose local service extends from Bernardston to Northampton and from Athol to Charlemont.

Three lines serve Bennington itself ( two during the work week, and one on Saturday ), as well as a paratransit " Flex " route and a commuter route known as the " Regional Route ".

Two SEPTA Regional Rail lines serve Chestnut Hill: the Chestnut Hill East Line and Chestnut Hill West Line.

It now operates every passenger and commuter rail line in the state except for Amtrak ; the Port Authority Trans-Hudson ( PATH ), which is owned by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey ; the PATCO Speedline, which is owned by the Delaware River Port Authority ; two SEPTA Regional Rail lines, the West Trenton Line and the Trenton Line ; and a handful of tourist trains in the southern and northwestern parts of New Jersey.

Although interconnected with the Paris Métro, it is actually located on the RER A line, one of the five lines of the Réseau Express Régional, or Regional Express Network.

MARC ( Maryland Area Regional Commuter ), known prior to 1984 as Maryland Rail Commuter Service, is a regional / commuter rail system comprising three lines in the Baltimore-Washington Metropolitan Area.

On March 1, 1968, WMATA approved its Adopted Regional System ( ARS ) plan that included suburban mass transit lines that followed the median of the proposed Interstate 66 through Virginia to Vienna and the CSX / Amtrak railroad right-of-way in Prince George's County, Maryland.

When the Regional Rail Link is built ( scheduled for completion in 2016 ) trains between Geelong services will also pass through Sunshine Station: this will mean Sunshine Station will be at the junction of all three western regional railway lines.

However, the three rapid transit lines – which by 1975 were all controlled by the newly created Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority – continued service.

The neighborhood is adjacent to 30th Street Station, which serves all Northeast Corridor trains, the New Jersey Transit Atlantic City Line, and all Regional Rail lines, as well as the Market-Frankford Line and the subway-surface trolley lines.
